Doesn’t section4 cover measures 7 & 8, not 9 and 10 as Tony says in the video?
In Section 4, this version alters the melody versus what I have heard for many years and played in concert bands, etc. perhaps thatks intended to make it a bit easier, but I’m guessing it might clash a bit with what one might expect to hear if ever you get into a bluegrass jam. Although it sonds like a great alteration, espes ially if youkre soloing and don’t want to quote the nornal script verbatim, I have some fear that I might corrupt my muscle memory if I learn this version and consequently not be able to cleanly play what I think is the more traditional version. I think I should get the more traditional version under my fingers really well before learning alternatives. Am I wrong to think that way? I recognize the other sections also add some stylizations, but they seem like nice embellishments that I should be able to manage.
I find this part quite easy. It’s the right hand consistency back across strings like in part 1 and 2 that kill me. A descending pattern with down / up is more manageable for me at this point.
