Belushi Bass
Combine ingredients and bake at 425 degrees for at least 10 minutes… nope, we’re not cooking a pie today, we’re cooking up a complete and varied approach to the blues. Today you will combine all of the things you have spent time working on this week. You’ll use the shuffle, you’ll use both licks, you’ll harness the triplet feel, AND you’ll even play some bass. Part of transitioning chords is moving to (or staying on a single chord) in an interesting way… enter the bass line. One of the most interesting and melodic ways to facilitate a chord transition or spice up your playing is to steal from the guitar’s brother from another mother, the bass. You’ll play through this chord progression and when the mood strikes, you’ll magically switch to the bass and then go back again. You’ll also see how the lick you learned on Tuesday functions as a great way to move from chord to chord as well.
