  1. I question the playback video on this one as those 16th notes are REALLY RUSHED / not on the beat at all! Tony’s playing them almost like 32nds! Is this how the lick is supposed to sound and its just notated wrong? Or did he rush the 16ths in the playback? Guess I’ll do it both ways, but clarity would help here.

  2. The hardest part for me is getting the pull offs to sound out. They sound very weak. I tried to do push offs instead and it sounds a little bit stronger. Any suggestions?

    1. I’m not sure what a “push off” is, but take it really slow until you are getting the sound you want. Then SLOWLY increase the tempo gradually over days, weeks, months. Its FANTASTIC that you recognized that you are not getting the tone you want from the pull offs so you know what you want! Thats really important!! Next is just putting in the work to get there.

  3. I’m a finger picker and this lesson gets right at a place I need that I need to work on. Vertical shifting of my picking hand. Also putting on finger picks is a big challenge for me as well. I love the feeling of my finger nails and skin hitting the strings. I instantly know where I’m at. Unfortunately my nails start to chip away and develop grooves. So I’m going to work more with picks. It could solve a problem for me.

  4. I struggled a lot with how this lick sounded, as well as with that 16th note sequence. I think in time as I keep playing, I’ll accomplish the 16th note speed. A good challenge though.

  5. Lick has an odd sound to it, but I suppose we need to learn all kinds of licks to get them under our fingers. Good practice for other things to come I suppose.

  6. Not bad it’s kind fun at faster speeds. The first transition getting the forward to backward roll kept tripping me up at first

  7. I haven’t gotten the speeds right, but the main thing that will prevent me from practicing it is that I don’t like this lick at all even when Tony plays it.

  8. I am new and still trying to figure out where to start with banjo challenges. I am making very slow progress, still working on number 2. Is this what I should do? I can keeping working my way through the challenges and hope that I can keep up someday. Any suggestions?
