It took a little work to find the best hand position, but it seems to be paying off. Just small changes in thumb position and how close the heel of my palm is to the neck seem to make a massive difference to get my pinky in the right place. I’m going to enjoy practicing this lesson over the weekend. Reading the TAB in conjunction with the video is a must for this exercise. Loved it thank you Tony.

Yeah my pinky absolutely does not bend that way so I will have to stay low and lonesome……… but I showed up
-
Not fun, and I’m done! I cannot do this fingering and I cannot find an alternate position. I can only do it without the ring and pinky changes. I can do the turnaround part.
-
Addendum: I did some finger stretches and was still not able to reach the 7th, 12th, or 14th frets, but was more easily able to reach the 6th, 11th, and 13th frets. But I have to re-arrange my other fingers as my middle finger won’t fold up that much to fret the B string. (I can’t make a normal D chord for the same reason.)

@tsmeade48 lol …ditto!!!
my pinky finger went on strike too! -
Thought I had this one nailed, except my pinky finger went on strike.
-
Woke up this morning and had a realization. Instead of trying to learn and memorize the secret for me was reading the tablatures. Sure enough today I made a breakthrough. I don’t have to memorize to keep moving forward, I needed to learn to read the tablatures.

My pinky and ring finger are sharing inputs, when I want my pinky to hit a note the ring finger insist on following suit , not leading to a harmonious out come. I have ordered an exercise device to work the fingers if that doest work ????
-
This was pretty fun. I had to take it slow, but it almost sounds like music. Progress.
-
My pinky finger just doesn’t bend in this direction…
-
I’m working on coordinating my fingers in position on the strings and in the right rhythm.
I’m not very smooth at the changes but with time it will improve. I love the blues! Thanks for this one! -
I could have driven myself crazy trying to get both strings to ring in each position. Not possible in one setting so I focused on the feel of the music and moving my hand around without looking for the frets for the base position. Not perfect – sounded quite “plinky” but had fun. Something to re-visit as my hands get stronger.
-
Fun, but… Yeah fun.
-
Yes, pinky problems.
-
A lot of muted strings
-
really having trouble to get the 5th string not to be muted, my pinky seems to now want to cooperate.
-
I just can’t stretch my pinky to the 7th fret.
-
Me, too. What I have done successfully is slide my index finger down from the G to the B string and up to the next fret and position my ring (stronger) finger on the seventh fret instead of my pinky. Before retirement, I had worked with a highly skilled general surgeon who had a thumb and two fingers as a result of a teenage farming accident. I figured if he could perform lifesaving surgeries with that combination, I could manipulate my fingers on a fretboard. And it works. If I revisit this exercise a year from now, it may be a different story with progression.

Lots of fun!

Really challenges the finger stretching on fret hand ,,, but love this one!

Here, I found a fun place to warm up with the blues!!
-
This is definitely a stretch for my short little fingers. Will take a bit more practice for sure. Love the way Tony can make it happen.
-
I am struggling with the hammer ons. Anyone got any advice?
-
That was fun, once I got them all together and looping!
-
-
that was a stretch for my fingers! my left hand is tired!
-
This was more of a challenge. I played until my picking fingers were numb and my fretting fingers were about to fall off but I think I just about have it under my fingers (my sore fingers!)
-
Way too fast for me! I can’t keep up!
Congratulations, !
Challenge complete
