Walk This Way
So far you’ve had a chance to play through some shorter form bass walks… I’m referring to the two beat and four beat windows that you have now become accustomed to. That’s going to change today because today you’ll be using an entire 2 measures, a full eight beats, to change to the next chord. This is an extremely fun way to ride what feels like a musical roller coaster. Is this the most direct way to change between chords? No. Is it something that you will use in every single song? No. Is it a creative way to move between chords when you have enough time to do so? Absolutely 100% yes. This is a fun way to not only move from chord to chord it’s also a great way to begin conceptualizing musical time in a completely different way.
