It’s important to be consistent in your practice, you are learning a new language and it takes time.

It’s a cycle of continuous improvement – two steps forward, one back. That’s normal, don’t get discouraged. I’m old too.

Would love to see it, post a few pics! You’re in Daytona? Went to college there.

I have a Klos carbon fiber travel guitar – https://klosguitars.com/ – the neck easily comes off and you can carry as a backpack which fits in any airline overhead or even pack in a larger suitcase (I usually do this). Very durable due to the carbon fiber construction, I have made many flights without issue.
klosguitars.com
KLOS Guitars designs and manufactures the first durable, affordable, comfortable, great-sounding carbon fiber travel guitar.

Both great organizations for Vets, many of whom also have similar challenges.

MemberJuly 12, 2024 at 5:26 am in reply to: 90+ Days and Curious About the ProgressYou are building valuable skills here to play many songs. Once you can comfortably play G/C/D there are literally hundreds of songs you can work on. I typically go to Song Notes https://songnotes.net/ or Ultimate Guitar https://www.ultimate-guitar.com to learn a specific song. Song Notes is my favorite but the library is more limited. David Potts also records very good instructional videos for each song. If you are a Veteran, Cavarts https://www.cavarts.org/spaces/7234844/feed is a tremendous resource as well.

Be consistent and don’t give up, look at it as a journey and not a destination. You will look back a year from now and see improvement, and every year thereafter. You are building a very good guitar skills foundation with Tony and this community, in time you will begin to realize and appreciate that.

I love these stories particularly from those that have been at it longer than me, it is a positive influence and motivation to pick up my guitar every day. I will hit 4 years with Tony later this month.

I was jamming with you, well done. I think we have the same Martin too.

I was just out of a 4 year Air Force enlistment and went to Embry-Riddle, my wife went to the Daytona Campus of UCF. Lots of good memories, we still have good friends there.

Mine is a Custom D Classic which I believe was a Guitar Center exclusive offering. Looks very similar to yours, no electronics either. I also have a Martin Road Series Special cutaway with electronics but seldom plug it in. Both entry level Martins that play beautifully.
