@Mrfredsporty In 4 months time you have done a lot! I have to get back on the ball and record another song to post. I have a couple that I can play decently. You said your learning Billy in the Low Ground (is that in the Flat Picking section of the vault? I’m working on the ‘Bluegrass Rhythm (Starter), I love the sound of it so far, I just have to pick up my speed.
I have the music to “Fire and Rain” , it looks harder than all heck! But, if you do a section at a time, you’ll get there. Good Luck and happy picking.

@kurtv and @jumpinjeff , I am surprised that Tony doesn’t have a search in the challenges. Sorry @kurtv, i am no help in this venture.

@GerryB56 , Yes, oh course you need more guitars. A resonator or a slide guitar might be a nice addition to your family of guitars. You can always trade up from what you have too. I use guitar-center site to get an idea of what is out there (also they have a 45 day guarantee). So you could buy and try out and return. 🙂

@Greg_F_Lee , I wanted to add one more thing. One very important thing! Your guitar may not be able to accommodate heavy gage strings. I just pulled up info on the Washburn guitars and it said all their guitars are shipped with light gauge strings, except for the travel guitar it’s shipped with extra lights. It’s just something to keep in mind, the extra tension in heavy strings could cause damage.

I had started using another site and they recommended you have a daily routine that used fingering / strumming exercises so I stayed with TAC. The routine keeps me accountable. Tells me everyday when I log on how long I’ve been here and If i finish the daily challenges. Keeps me going with this journey a finger strum at a time.

I have only changed the strings on one of my guitars and that is only because I had to make a repair to it (bridge pulled up). I only have been using light strings on my guitars and I let them go dead before I change them.

Sometimes I get very frustrated with some of the lessons and I have to take a break (just took this week off). But, I always log on to open up the forum and see if I can help someone or they help me. Oh…. and by the way I always play my guitar everyday. Right now, I stepped into the ‘songvault’ and found some really great songs to learn 🙂

@andysmith22gmail-com , take it one string at a time. I downloaded an free app for the IPhone called insTuner. Copy and Paste into your browser to take a look at it, https://apps.apple.com/us/app/instuner-free-chromatic-tuner/id603425027
I also have a tuner that clips to the guitar. I like the clip on so I can daily fine tune. But, the IPhone app takes me around the clock so when I start with fresh strings I can visually see where I am. Give it a try, if you can’t do it, then take it in. -
@albert_d , I use http://www.jerrysguitarbar.com for a lot of my sheet music. Fire and Rain just happens to be a free one too. https://www.jerrysguitarbar.com/guitar-video-lessons/individual-songs/james-taylor-fire-rain/ Go to the site and look around, he has a lot of good songs and walks you through each one.

I did pull out the music to ‘fire and rain’ last night. Just take it a step at a time. Break it up in sections and take her slow. You can do it and what a pretty song to play.

@Greg_F_Lee , thank you for your reply! I almost didn’t post because I thought i’d get a lot of criticism on this one.
