Great job! Not looking at the strings is a big win too. Good for you to be using a metronome. It will only get better.

Wow! Great job on this. Really bluesy feel to the whole song.

Hoot Hoot @Stickmaker! Getting the Chords down is a great! As for Barred Chords, You might try putting a Capo on your fretboard. It will be a lot easier if you had the capo on the 4th fret. Just to get the shape down and work through the buzzing strings. Give it a try and post how it went. Good luck. Also a great win, keep them coming!

@GuitarGeni , I know you are a 12 string player. Do you do all the challenges on a 12? Good win also. It’s always good to improve speed.

When I first started playing the guitar again (a little over a year ago) I tried singing along with the song. What a mess, I couldn’t believe my voice couldn’t do it. NOT AT ALL. What I found that helped me is listening to songs people from the community play and sing. We are all non-professionals (I think), we haven’t had voice lessons. So we just sing. I found everyone I listened to, could keep a tone to the song they were playing. They might not be hitting those high notes or low notes that the original band does, but the community singers made the song sound great. Scroll through the ‘play with us’ and find a song you like, listen and sing along. Even if it’s a little under you breath your exercising those voice strings.

Tony used to have a course called TAC SONGS. Tony took it off for some reason, I think that was a sad mistake. The url is https://app.searchie.io/hub/254V7grV3m/
Pick the icon of either Flat picking or Fingerpicking. Then scroll through the songs in what you want to learn. To get the tab sheet you have to open the song in a certain sequence. I added a couple of screen captures to show you the way. Hope this helps.
If you can’t get the link to work, try copy and paste. If it still doesn’t work, message me back and I’ll try to help you out. There were some big changes made in the website. One was removing the Vault.

Yes, I have had this happen to me. Not with my guitar playing but with other avenues in my life. You get the ‘you are so lucky’, ‘your a natural’, blah blah blah.
It’s not luck and it’s not a gift. It’s hard work and perseverance that got you to the point you are today. I was explaining to a friend, all the work and time it took to get to a higher level of achievement. The come back was ‘oh, I have a life’. Believe me @GuitarGeni,I know just how you feel.

@mkjohnsons .My metronome is on my IPhone. It is a downloadable app for your IPhone called ‘Soundbrenner’. I’m including a website link so you can read about it, but you’d download the app from your IPhone. Copy / paste the address into your browser if the link doesn’t work. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/the-metronome-by-soundbrenner/id1048954353
What nice is you can set the BPM to what you want and the time signature (example 4/4 time). If it is set for 4/4 time, it will have 4 buttons that will active one at a time. Example BEEP, beep, beep, beep. Also the buttons light up. So the first BEEP has a brighter light than the rest. No I don’t have to watch it, because I can see it start over again out of the corner of my eye. I am using the free app. It’s $4.99 a month if you have money to burn. Stay with free. There is a learning curve but that’s life.
The metronome is a challenge in itself. I had it on my IPhone a good 6 months before I finally started to use it daily, where it was easy to use and I understood what it was doing. It’s on my IPhone. I have my IPhone on me all the time. I also use the stopwatch to time how long I am playing a song. I’m a computer gal so I chart what songs I play and for how long.
I understand the concentration thing. I have to turn the volume way down on mine because it’s too distracting to me. I use the light more than anything. Sometimes, I have to ignore it completely to get through a confusing area of a song too. Good Luck, the metronome is something to get used to. I think everyone has a hard time with it. Good Luck. If you have any questions just post something to me. I’ll get back with you. I attached a copy of the app so you knew what it looked like.

my killer is the F Barre. All will sound great till I get to one string and it’s dead! Not really dead, but a dull thud. I try all the roll of my finger for the Barre and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I guess in time i’ll get the strength in my index finger. But, for now, it’s hit or miss. There is a ‘skill course’ on Barre chords, @Stickmaker have you tried that?

I have thought of voice lessons when I first started with TAC. My voice sucked. My voice would crack, the dogs would howl. But, I found my real problem was, I hadn’t tried to sing in a long, long time. Like I just told @Danny L , Listen to the community in ‘play for us’ forum. It really helped me out.

Just read your post @William-S . I just added how to get the tabs to the songs in the old Song Vault. You have to open the song by the title or you won’t get the tabs. See my answer to @Saskia. To me the site was much better before the ‘big improvement’. I don’t always have access to the internet so being able to download the videos was a great option. Also you don’t have that ‘step up’ in your learning curve that the Song Vault offered. Hope this helps.
