But, since you already did hurt yourself… I can only suggest to give your finger a bit of a rest. It’s going to take a while to get that finger healed up to use properly. Do you think you could take a little time off from fretting and learn a little slide guitar? That way you are still going to be using your picking hand and you’ll still be using your ear to sound songs out. By the way….. Who is cooking for Christmas? 🙂

Good Job @MikeGaurnier , Sometimes you have to sit back and figure out just why something isn’t something working for you. Glad you got everything figured out. well…. at least the pinky problem. 🙂

@Mark, I also am thinking of buying a 12 string to add to my collection. You said that you were able to handle it, so you know if you can grip the strings or not. I am going to guess this is going to be an ‘extra’ guitar? What can it hurt to own it, even if it’s to play occasionally (providing the price is right)? Yes, more strings are a little harder to hold down than a 6 string. I was looking at one yesterday and the nut width was fine but the neck shape was too big for my hand to get comfortably around. Ask if you can have it for a few days to play before making a decision. Good Luck!

It really is a great exercise sheet. You did a good job on it.

Thanks, I will keep it fun, not to worry about that.

Thanks for touching base with me @Michelle-PSL . I retired a couple of years ago, so I have all the time in the world to do my hobbies. That is why I figured I could go with a longer playing time. Yeah, I know there are going to be times that I can’t get it all in. That’s ok, as long as I’m close. If I can get in at least a 1/2 hour in the early morning I’m usually ok for the rest of the day. I can finger-pick a couple of songs now, but i want to get better at it and get the rhythm down better. If I can do that, in say….. 10 months to a year, I think I deserve to buy myself a 12 string. Now that will be fun!!

Thanks @Rando. Just trying to beef up my journey for a while. I have nothing to loose by trying. 😉

I have been doing an hour a day for the last few weeks, pushing it another hour will be good for me. Especially recording myself to see where I am lacking. I’m looking for a 12 string and I just can’t justify buying another guitar till I start playing better.

Thank you @Loraine , I think I can do it. I have been increasing my time playing for the past month or so. If I stick to 5 days a week that will be a minimum of 2760 minutes. I can play catch up on the weekends if need be. If I don’t set down goals for myself I start to slip. This summer I plan on sitting on the front porch rocking the scene till I have all the dogs howling. 🙂

I’ll call my store today and see if they can order without the cutaway otherwise I’ll order it with. I’m super excited, and just in time for Christmas.
