@campfire , perhaps it is the pick guard (that could resemble a dog’s ear). As @Cadgirl suggests a picture of what your granddaughter saw would be helpful.

Hi @stevieblues and thanks very much for watching the post and for your feedback. I really appreciate it. I had to slow the BPM down a good bit from the original to both learn the song and continue to improve my technical ability on fingerpicking. It is a work in progress!!

It is challenging to getting the thumb on “autopilot” to hold down the back beat while picking the melody and harmonies elsewhere. Lots of slow repetition and building muscle memory – at least for me. Keep at it – small steps will eventually pay off!
