Nah. Just hop in on Monday this week. Sweet Home Chicago. And don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get it in 10 minutes. Just do the best you can. The lesson will come around again and you’ll be pleased and amazed with your improvement. The system works even though it makes us perfectionists uncomfortable.

Good benchmark. All of us will eventually have this song on our back pocket.

MemberOctober 10, 2025 at 8:27 pm in reply to: Wagon Wheel Chord Transition Insight for beginnersGood insight into Tony’s idea about jumping ahead as a transition. I find though that I have to slow down on Wagon Wheel or the song sounds rushed. The tendency is to speed up. These hammer ons will make one do that.

You’ll get it. Muscle memory just takes repetition and as long as you are having fun you keep working at it. None of us are striving for record contracts… just a little music to brighten our lives.

Love a little Don Williams. Good job and great way to spend a rainy day. Please send some of that rain to Texas.

Ok. I grinned all the way through this. Remember the release well and still have the vinyl. But wouldn’t it be nice to be only 64? Fun post.

Some day you will love Fretboard Wizard but the E is 3 notes (E, G#, B) and the A is 3 notes (A, C#, E).

Condolences. Been there. Getting back into the music is a good and healing idea.

Your routine is much better than mine (comparative thinking allowed in this instance). I do massage my hand and assure my guitar is tuned but that is about it. I like your idea and will think through that time.

Nice. Where are my shoes and wooden floor!

When I was a lad I had to hoe sugar beets on our farm. When you look at a half mile square (160 acres) of rows 18” apart and half mile long. At 13 years old it seems like an insurmountable task. But you just do it one weed and one step at time. @Loraine you have a “long row to hoe”, but you seem to understand what it takes. 3 weeks out of surgery and you have music in your heart. Bless you heart (in a nice way).

I think I played and sang this song better before I started trying to get percussive with it but I like the effect so much I keep trying to make it natural. Thanks for your tips.

My boys and I used to get a real kick out of this song when this one guy would always play this at the church service on Chapel Hill at the Kerrville Folk Festival each year. He was over the top in dramatic presentation and their middle school minds just couldn’t hear it without imitating him. Your presentation however was quite good.

And that’s where it comes from!
