I am in that boat as well. For four years, never had an issue, but lately they keep crashing. It shouldn’t bother me, yet it does. I guess because there is an emphasis on regularity, making it a part of a habit. In the old days, it was used to help give away a Taylor Mini for the person who hadn’t missed a day in the month. They would put the names on a dart board and throw the dart, but you couldn’t get on said dart board without perfect attendance. Guess that might be where the habit started for me.

I don’t know..the lag, and now the daily counters continuing to reset to zero have me wondering….I have been a member for almost four years, and the lag was always present, but the counters always worked for me until around Christmas time.
-
I too experience this, and have stopped trying to slow down or speed up. The old system when he had three different videos at the slow, normal and fast speeds didn’t do it.

Well, they have been having issues since before Christmas with the counters as well. I keep logging in every day, and my counter is also set back to one every other day now it seems. Although, when I look at the playing sessions, they are all checked complete. So something is wrong with the system.

It is still glitched, as I lost another day after making the comment and reporting.

Okay, it wasn’t just me then. I even went into the lessons and saw that I got credit there. Must be gremlins in the system…someone fed them after midnight.

It builds the guitar routine “habit” if you will, or playing daily. After the minimum ten, you can put the guitar away, or you can go on for as long as you like. For me, I will do the ten minute lesson, work on some other songs and then I look up and I have been at it an hour. At first you don’t feel like you are really doing much, but if you stay with it, you will soon start to realize things you had trouble with are getting easier and easier. So don’t’ get too discouraged, don’t beat yourself up too badly and put in the time YOU feel you need. That is the best advice I can give for Tony’s method.

The old site used to have three different speeds but now there is a slider to make things go faster. My computer system kind of distorts the speed slider, so I usually just stick with what Tony is using to teach us with, and if I want to go faster I use a metronome.

IMPBW, I think most of us when we first start TAC feel a bit overwhelmed at the daily challenge, but that is kind of the point. Push yourself a bit out of that comfort zone and you will start to see improvements. It will be subtle at first, and you may not even realize it, but you are slowly getting better each time. The 10 min is the window that Tony wants you to at least give to your guitar routine so you start playing every day. I always equate the 10 min challenge to a Crossfit WoD “Work out of the Day”. If you ever look at their web site, there is no way in hell I will be able to do handstand walks or muscle ups…but I can hang on a pull up bar and get a bit better each time….and if I keep working at it, pull ups get easier as I have put some effort into gaining muscle by simply hanging and attempting to do the muscle up. So my advice, do what you can with the daily challenge for 10 min-remember you do not have to be at Tony’s level at this point…God knows I still am not either…but the more you do them, the more you will start to see yourself get better. It is a marathon, not a sprint. Good luck to you!

Congrats Michelle. To be honest, I thought you had been here much longer than a year, due to the posts you made in the old forums. You always came with sage advice and seemed like an Old Tac Pro. Great job on your first year, and here’s to many more.

Congrats! I have entered that give away several times, and finally gave up. Nice to actually see someone around here win one. Enjoy!

No Ma’am, do the challenge, as much as you can to your best ability-strive for ten minutes…if you make it great if not, no worries. Then use the remainder of the time working on things you want to do. Myself, after my ten minutes is finished (I actually put a timer on myself) I start working on songs that I want to be able to play. Lately I have gone from simple strummers like “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” to trying to get down “My Hero” and “Hunger Strike”. The Daily Challenge is the spring board to my playing sessions.
