The Stats
Posted by ProbablyBryan on January 21, 2024 at 3:26 pmWhen I open up my TAC account, it shows My Stats.
Even though I opened up TAC since the first day — and, of course, played every day — it shows me that the Current Day Streak is back to 1, and The Longest Day Streak is 3.
While this is a small thing, and it’s not interfering with my progress, it’s still there. 😶
Am I not understanding about it? Also, when I end my sessions, I log out, and log back in for the next session.
Thanks..!

Hey Bryan. It’s an ongoing problem and support knows about it. Has been a problem for a while now – not just you.
I’ve been at it for a while and did get somewhat attached to the stats. When I saw them crash and break, it was very distracting for a while. Not proud of that but it happened.
I now got myself a notebook to jot down my playing time, what I worked onand my notes after – as in, what should I work on more before moving on to something new. Of late, I’m telling myself to slow down!
Sooner or later something will happen with the stats – correction or removal (just a thought if they are always wrong).
I would recommend not becoming attached to the system version of your progress – others have said they have broken on prior occasions. Track your progress yourself and take notes – there is also a journal available from TAC. I just found my $1.25 notebook easier for me.
Hang in there and enjoy.

I am in that boat as well. For four years, never had an issue, but lately they keep crashing. It shouldn’t bother me, yet it does. I guess because there is an emphasis on regularity, making it a part of a habit. In the old days, it was used to help give away a Taylor Mini for the person who hadn’t missed a day in the month. They would put the names on a dart board and throw the dart, but you couldn’t get on said dart board without perfect attendance. Guess that might be where the habit started for me.

@BryanDean Just let Support know that you’re affected by it, so they have record of who is. You can do that by clicking on the support link at the bottom left and then click the chat link. I personally don’t let it bother me. It’s simply a number. If I know I log in daily or play daily that’s good enough for me. I like the idea of keeping tabs in a notebook iIt matters though. I believe the total days played is correct. It is just the concurrent days that may be off.

Thanks @Loraine @atroutcatcher @Ddtediejm
— From Support:
We have a tech team that is working to fix it and it’s actually quite a delicate more time intensive process than we originally thought. We don’t want any current data prior to the log in counter malfunction to be affected, hence a higher level of care to this.
So, they’re on it. 🙂

That is the standard reply to this problem. Gotten that one quite a bit..no sign of them fixing it though.

I gave up on the using the Stats here a while back.
I now use an app called Andante which allows me to track days, sessions (246), total time practicing (135 hours since I started playing guitar), streak (103), practice notes, etc. I enjoy having more detailed tracking.

Good stuff. Are you using any other guitar related apps you would recommend for success? Thanks for posting.

I use Modacity to come up with my weekly practice plan. Makes sure I am covering all bases and not over practicing others. I have 7 practice lists, one for each day.
So for example Monday has
Finger Stretching
TAC Day 1
Chords
Notes
Arpeggios
Scale – E Blues right now, but I change this as I master a scale
Rhythm
Song – Enter the Sandman
Song – Stuck in the Middle with YouTuesday
Finger Stretching
TAC Day 2
Scale – Am Pentatonic
Chord Transitions
Scale – D Major
Power Chords
Song – I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll
Strumming Practice for Stand by Me DUxUxUxU
Song – Stand by Meand so on….
I put in 15 mins for TAC and 3-5 mins for each of the other tasks.

I also use an app called Tenuto which is an app by MusicTheory.net. I use it for learning/drilling myself on notes on the fretboard, notes on the staff and for ear training.
I also use the StaffWars game to learn the notes on the staff.

Wow. That’s big time helpful. I really appreciate it.
You’re probably not a hugger, but if you were here, I’d try to give you one. 😁
