Hi – I’m just setting up too. I have a hand-me-down system from my daughter. It looks impressive to me, but I don’t know what it is. She says I can just plug it into my old Mac Book. I think I will need some headphones. Any suggestions? I was wondering if I could get wireless ones that I could use for music listing too.

VERY NICE! Do you have a source for the TAB to share?

Good point – OK many guitars buddies.
1. When are the open mics? I’d like to sit in on a couple before I get up my courage to participate.
2. I wrote my first tune today. It happened quite naturally while I was practising my pentatonic scales – just like Tony said it would. I tried to write the tablature so that I would remember it, but I couldn’t figure out how to indicate the rhythm. Any suggestions?

Well that certainly explains why I couldn’t find it!
Bummer!
Anyone out there looking for a guitar buddy?

Thanks for your advice. I have taken my guitar to a luthier and he seems optimistic about the rehab. I was hoping to avoid putting my babies away by humidifying the room, but it seems that all the advice is to store in case. I have only one hard case left as I have switched to the soft gig bags with the foam sides. *Sigh*
I have a think on it.
Many thanks!

You just listed and watched and figured it out yourself? Impressive!
After playing basic open chords and with a few barr chords thrown in for decades, I am just beginning to explore the world of tablature. It’s pretty exciting what I can learn when I practice regularly! 😜

Hi Don from Texas,
It does look like we’re on similar guitar journeys. What are you working on for your latest 90 day goals?
These are mine:
1. Establish a regular routine – check!
2. Participate in 2 forum discussions – check!
3. Attend some VOMs with an eye to participating next time – check!
4. Learn John Lennon’s Imagine, finger-picking and lyrics – off book – not there yet but getting better.

Thanks Jeff. I’m on it now!😊

Thanks John. I didn’t know about the water vapour. I’ll keep an eye on that. I am going to try a room humidifier first and see how that works out. Living on Vancouver Island I don’t usually worry about dry air (think rain forest). This new-to-us house we moved to has in-floor heating and it is sucking the moisture out of all things wooden including our piano.

Hi David, Thanks for your reply. I think I will go with a room humidifier rather than put my guitar in it’s case – out of sight / out of mind!
Apparently Larrivees are built at 45% and are meant to stay at 45%. Like you said- being on the Island I’ve never worried about humidity until we moved to this house with in-floor heating. Our piano would not hold a tuning for more than a week. It was a mystery until the penny dropped after about 2 years of frustration and a lot of money spent on tuning and other repairs.
