🙋🏻‍♂️ I’ve been there. So I developed my own Technique for holding the pick which I’ve used since starting to learn and become quite good at it but recently been told it’s not the best practice so I’ve been shown the correct/ different way and trying to unlearn it which is very difficult and now I’ve gone from never dropping a pick to always dropping them I have a whole stash of them In the sound hole. It’s quite hard to change but I’m hoping if I get through the other side I will be better for it. Spinning 😵‍💫 picks was never a problem before now it’s constant but the tone is definitely better and apparently I’ll have better control once I get it. I’ve read some people glue sandpaper on there picks or you can get textured ones. I’m going to persist in trying to get my technique down hopefully there will be a lightbulb moment in the bit too distant future interested to see other peoples replies

No worries tbf my IT skills are limited someone might know a way for your tablet to work. In the meantime a work around for me is sometimes I’ll have the tab large on my iPad and then play the video/ song on my phone this works quite well when I’m learning a song and have to keep stopping and starting.

Smithy be different on your computer but here’s how it works on my iPad. It only works when it’s in landscape mode for some reason. There’s a button in the bottom right you press this this pops the video out into a little square on its own. You can then move this about and adjust the size if you like. Then I press the tab icon and it changes pages but the video screen stays with you.

Hi mark I had this exact same problem months ago when we did a week in an alternative tuning and even resorted to doing what you said finding the note on another string and tuning by ear as my tuner would only seem to let me tune eadgbe automatically. I found an old tuner which I had and this allowed me to tune a note so maybe it is your tuner there’s plenty of apps where if you pay they have the alternative tunings built in. I have a new guitar now that has a built in tuner which is really good it lets me tune any notes. Someone might have a better answer as I never found a solution with the tuner I had but that might just be my inexperience also.

As someone relatively new to the guitar I’ve been practicing with a metronome everyday. At first it made it much harder trying to work out what both hands were doing and also trying to listen and doing it in time and could even be frustrating sometimes but I realised the other day that it’s paid off I seem to just sync with the metronome now without thinking. For me you’ve got to keep asking the questions and exploring but the answers always seem to be patience and persistence. Good luck

That was brilliant Daniel looked like a lot of fun to play. I bought an amp for the first time the other week and was thinking of getting some sort of loop pedal to try something similar. Not as accomplished but will be fun learning.

Hi NW7 I have the opposite problem I tend to Learn by reading the tabs so I’m usually staring at that and let my fingers do their thing. Draw back to this is it makes it harder for me to memorise songs without the tab as a prompt so maybe I need to start staring at my fingers and you could start by concentrating on the tab?

Cheers for that I have GarageBand on my phone but never used it not very tech savvy. I’ve never played along with someone but saw the video Tony had with him playing along to this with a friend and it looked so much fun (I dont think it exists in the new format). I can pick it pretty well to the metronome at speed so just need to work out the strumming part which is not something I’m too good at atm

I’m going to try play along to your video too. It sounds so good and is really impressive, cheers for making it.
