I really need to follow your example of defining goals more precisely, Mrfred! Alas, setting goals has never been one of my strengths, probably because I know I’m not so good at following through on them😆 Like you, I picked a fairly tough song that I would like to learn to play fingerstyle – Pearl Jam’s “Just Breathe”. Actually I don’t even know how hard this one is considered to be, as there really aren’t many chords or difficult patterns, but Eddie Vedder plays it so fast! Oh well, nothing wrong with dreaming, I suppose!

Congrats on one whole year! I’m closing in on 100 days and feeling pretty good about that, so a year looks awesome! I’m glad to know that TAC keeps on inspiring folks as the months and years go by and we make slow and steady progress on our guitar odysseys🎸😃

I remember that song causing such a sensation when it came out. But I was astounded when I googled it and realized that was nearly 30 years ago! Seems like IZ was a pretty fascinating person, who put a lot of living into his fairly short lifetime. The magic of music!

I’m so glad you’ve found this great way to connect to other geeks and to the community. It’s becoming a great resource for me, too. I spend a fair bit of time alone myself, by choice, though like you I don’t feel lonely. During the times when I’m struggling with my playing, it helps immensely to read about how others are doing and feeling about their journeys 😄

Good for you, stevieblues! It’s folks like you that keep me inspired when I fall into one of those “never gonna’ get this” funks! Keep on strumming and picking
🎸😄

For me the best thing about Tony’s system is it gets me checking in and playing every day. And the forums are a great source of feedback and encouragement. But I have several other sites I visit regularly to learn songs or find ideas on how to supplement my basic chord strumming. Before TAC I had a tendency to drift a little aimlessly between sites, but now at least I feel I have a “home base” to keep me more focused.

That’s one heck of a milestone! And it sounds like you’re really enjoying the journey – good example for those of us who let frustration get in the way a little too often! All the best for the next 500!

Have to put that one on my list, too. It’s so awesome to see little kids getting bitten by the music bug very early in life. Sure wish it had happened to me – sigh! But, better late than never, for sure.

Knew I could count on your support, Mrfredsporty😄 That resonator is looking better and better every day!

Hmm, Mike, I do like your rationale on those points😄 Especially the one about needing to explore different sounds, etc. Makes perfect sense! And, yes, I must stop hesitating to label myself a guitar player, because I’ll probably never be as good as I really want to be.
Of course, I also wouldn’t want to defy Tony’s urging to build my guitarsenal!

Thanks, Marty69! I sure won’t argue with you there. I’ll just keep working towards the day when they sound good to my ears when I play them!

Wow, that’s a pretty sweet looking instrument, for sure! Love the hubcap😄 Yeah, I know, I need to get over this “real player” hangup of mine – although I’m pretty sure it’s a common affliction with us guitar geeks. Lucky for me, my dear spouse is never going to tell me I have enough guitars already – her thing is horses, and they are just a tad more $$$😆

Makes perfect sense! As frustrated as I get sometimes, so far I haven’t had any strong urge to quit this journey. But I do need to see the full half of the glass more often🙂

Yep, it sure feels good to be having some fun with my guitar again. Just needed to “lighten up” and stop taking it all so seriously – which has always been one of my worst habits.
