My condolences to you on your mother’s passing. I can relate to you–I’ve lost 2 family members in less than 6 months. My own mother passed 12/13/20 at age 80, and my older sister passed away 5/12/21. She was only 60 years old.
I just started this week again picking up my guitar and getting involved in it again. For me, music is a great place for me. I have listened to music since I am old enough to remember. Many great memories of listening to Country music in the late 1960s and my dad driving in our car. I was an avid listener of WLS 780 AM out of Chicago during its heyday. Many great memories of listening to music back then as well. I can recall a certain song, artist, and/or album and it takes me back to a certain place and time. It’s amazing how powerful music can be. I truly believe music is good for the soul.
I really like the Deezer app and I listen to music all time. It’s nice to play music through the Bluetooth in my car. Music is definitely my “happy place”.

Great job! Nice playing and singing! I always found “Gold Dust Woman” to be a moody, but great song. A great song from a blockbuster album– Rumours.
I found this today. It is Stevie Nick’s isolated vocals from “Gold Dust Woman”. Pretty cool.

I remember hearing “Slow Dancing (Swayin’ to the Music)” back on the radio in 1977. I looked up the song and I believe this was Johnny Rivers’ last Top 40 hit. I found out a band called the Funky Kings did the song first, and Rivers’ version is a cover. That I didn’t know. Here is the Funky Kings’ version if you want to listen to it. Interesting.

@RudyB There is nothing wrong with taking one’s time. I think of the old saying, “Slow and steady wins the race.” You are making great progress! I still have problems with barre chords, and I have long, skinny fingers.

Your version of “Hotel California” is amazing. Nice work! The song makes me think of when my older sister brought the Hotel California album home in the spring of 1977 (the album was officially released 12/6/1976). We listened to it together, and often in its entirety. It is still one of my favorite albums even now.

I really loved this, and it is so soothing and a calm. It makes me think of something you might find on the Led Zeppelin III album (I think of acoustic when I think of that album). The late Maya Angelou said it best….”My Own Silence” is a great listen.

@Marisa I’m glad you liked it! I am always looking for isolated videos on YouTube every now and again. There is this cool video of the late Brad Delp’s isolated vocals on “More Than a Feeling” (Boston) with hand claps, and guitar. It sounds like Delp’s vocals are multi-tracked. This guy had such a range in his vocals! Sadly, Delp took his own life at age 55 (3/9/2007).

Thank you Bill! Music has always been my go-to throughout my life so far. I would say music is engrained in me somewhat. Music soothes the soul (just my opinion).

Thanks for the info on where to find the tabs for the music. I like to pull up and print the tabs, and it helps me follow along a bit better.
