@MississippiJeff – welcome to TAC! I think how you travel your guitar journey is personal preference. I found doing both types of lessons helpful for me when I started over a year ago. However, I didn’t spend much more than 10 minutes on the Daily Challenges each day and concentrated on the skill courses that interested me the most. I did complete the original Fretboard Wizard early on. It really provided a “roadmap” as I eventually spent more time with Daily Challenges. Don’t think you will miss out not doing them at first as they are on a somewhat cyclical rotation each year month to month. TAC offers such a wealth of instruction. I had to explore the site before I fully settled in MY routine.
Wishing you much success in achieving YOUR guitar goals. Join in on the live 90 Day Progress Party on January 4. It will help to orient you further and maybe get the opportunity to speak with Tony directly.😁

Nice. Maybe we can chat again on January 4th. So pleased you are having your best acoustic life Darren!

Thank you @KevinZ for that Christmas gift – in the tradition of the great baritones, Bing would approve! Have a wonderful holiday season.

This is only my second year of doing daily challenges. @That_Guy is right about how one will find improvement with the repetition of the lessons. Usually, the weekly lesson sets fall within the same month each year but not necessarily in the same order. There was a new one (to me) a while back. It is interesting to see my comments on the prior Weekly Progress Tracker that provides me proof one learns over a period of time by just showing up and trying them!

Don’t be disheartened. Transitioning chord shapes takes time. My suggestion is to concentrate on four basic open chords such as D, A, C and G. Find songs with them that you like and work on them even if your tempo is really slow. You will start teaching your fretting fingers to have muscle memory as you go from one shape to the next. It took me about a year to gain speed and not think about finger placement. Practice, practice, practice – even for just ten minutes.

Lovely melody and your picking ability is advancing nicely Darren. Keep on keeping on!

@Fletch – beautifully melodic with strong lyrics. Enjoyed it. Congratulations to you and your talented accompanists.

Nice playing and what a wonderful voice!

Consider the lifetime TAC option. Check with Victoria of the TAC staff about getting a credit discount. They credited my yearly fee to offset the cost of the life membership. I like it as I am in no hurry to learn or relearn the wealth of lessons Tony has on the website.
Good for you having a bassist! The Marisa D Band??

Well done @Marisa ! Such confidence you have. This tune is gig ready for sure. My number one guitar (of two acoustics) is a Taylor 414 ce-R. Had it for over a year. You you find the more you play it the better it gets. I truly believe the music absorbs into wood over time. Letting an experienced luthier set a new guitar to your style and liking is worth the cost.
I’m hoping Santa will delivered a new guitar my way if I haven’t been too naughty. Exploring “burst” finish mahogany body guitars but the ones I like are high dollar. Want one that sounds noticeably different than my two Taylor’s.
You will be missed if you decide to drop TAC. Maybe we can catch your performances via YouTube?
Regardless, thank you for bringing us along on your initial guitar journey. Wishing you even more success and joy in 2023. 🥳

I adhere to the “shake, rattle & roll” technique of pic extraction. 😁

Good for you @Mrfredsporty as none of us know what our future holds. As a hospice nurse I heard too many regrets (should of, could of on a wide range of dreams) but “carpe diem” applies for you to happily pluck away on your very special Martin.
