Hello Mark, From my perspective, having been with TAC three years & logging just over 1200 sessions, you are not “behind”. The Daily Challenges do repeat as the years go by and I’ve noticed the second or even third time personal growth with them happens. Your first approach is correct from my experience.
Playing guitar face with others requires a “just do it” attitude. Find someone who likes to play lead guitar and you play rhythm. I do this with my son in law (professional guitarist years ago). He started me slow and easy with a ton of his patience. Over time you find yourself being comfortable and having a great time together. You start alternating (in my case) simple leads. I learn a lot by watching him play. Also, I volunteer to play for residents within assisted living centers. Very understanding and appreciative people. Did one 10-song set last week. Each song seems to spark a memory for them. The more I do these “mini concerts” the easier and better it goes.
Yet the best advice I offer (as Tony says) is to pick up your guitar each day – even for just “ten minutes a day” as life permits , of course. Play on Mark. I wish you a very successful guitar enhanced life.

Wonderful lyrics, vocals and instrumentals Fletch, Julie and Steve. Reminds me of the quote “A day without music wouldn’t kill me, but why risk it?”

Your instrumental is an excellent tribute to the band’s only album issued in 1969. A LP treasure of mine. Well done @Marty73 !

Consistency is the key for both improvement and enjoyment. All of us go at our own pace.

Welcome to TAC Peter. Keep it up. I found over 3 years I improve over time by playing as life allows. Even just 10 minutes is worth it. Let us know how things are for you when you have completed the initial 30 days. Wishing you the best guitar life!

Nicely done @DiscostewLA – my favorite versions have lyrics adapted for both Easter and also Christmas. Very nice sounding Taylor!

@musicrmemsn-com Had the same problem when I started playing guitar three years ago. What helped me the most was (and still is) utilizing the exercises within Tony’s Skill Course “Daily Stretch for Guitar”. I have a long-term left wrist injury that restricts range of motion. Doing the exercises routinely has enabled me to gain the flexibility for playing without discomfort.
Take it slow at first by having several short practice sessions (10-15 minutes) instead of a prolonged session each day. That also helps to build up fingertip calluses too. However, with anything else worth pursuing, “no pain, no gain” but be smart about it. The most important thing Tony emphasizes is to play your guitar CONSISTENTLY.

@rbrenz001charter-net – I search online for the various songs Tony utilizes with the Daily Challenges for the lyrics and tablature sheets to download. Various websites offer them. I believe copyright laws come into play so that is the reason TAC doesn’t publish songs like Hotel California, Wagon Wheel, Ain’t No Sunshine, etc. referenced for benchmark weeks. Keep on playing!

Nice. My mother was from Hibbing, Minnesota. She was a sitter for Bobby Zimmerman, aka, Bob Dylan, early on. Something I think about when I play his classic tunes.
