Where are you @MamaMedic on your guitar journey? Have you played before but not for a while or brand new or somewhere in between. Knowing your experience will help me compare to where I have been so we can be on the same page.

Ohhhyyyy Lisa, life gets tough at times. Hang in there. You have made it this far so I would suspect you have some astute coping skills. And best of all your still here. Vent on, no worries. Your time spent is time spent well. What you learned may not be on the tip of your fingers but it is in you, and happy memories of the time spent learning combined with recognition of how that felt at the time will go a long way to fixing your motivation and determination presently. Remember why you became a player and hold that close. It does’t take much to get back on track. Do your ten minutes and see where you go. I am rooting for you.

I wipe my strings when done and if they are paricularly grungy and I don’t want to take the time to change them I will use the scour side of a dry sponge and go up and down the stings a few times and then wipe with a cloth. I have never used a string cleaner but I don’t spent too much on a set of strings. I use non coated D’Addario EJ-16’s.

MemberJanuary 29, 2022 at 10:30 am in reply to: How to get response from TAC Help CenterDid you try the “Support” option at the bottom of the left margin. When you click it it opens a new section and there is an Orange Square at the bottom that opens a chat window. That is what I do to get in touch with HQ.

there is a way you can still play. I am sure you will be in a sling….I had one that had this shelf sort of thing…by putting your fingers up around the 12th fret you can still do a finger flick type of strum all fingers perpendicular to the strings and all fingers extend on the down stroke and all flex back to a closed hand sort of a position for the up stroke. Desperate times call for desperate measures. It is not ideal but it kept me in the groove.

I am laughing out loud and almost rolling on the floor. I wish we lived closer. I can only imagine how fun that would be. Either that or one of us or both would be in trouble all the time. Thank You Fletch and Steve for your musical expression.

No I don’t have instagram and never will. This is the method I use when I need to talk with HQ. As far as I know it is an internal chat window.

Open the “chat window” at the bottom: looks like a square with a smile.

What has turned pink?

@mkjohnsons , for me it comes in two flavors one in my mind and one in my fingers hand arm etc. Focus is part of it. I have to be focused on what I am doing and not thinking about raking the leaves or paying the bills. Singularly focused on the vibrations of the music. If you get it the first few times through but then decline….slow down breath, focus, relax hand and mind. Know you have done it but get to that speed where you feel like you could not miss even after 100 times through. Have the confidence that your fingers will hit the strings with perfect accuracy, go slowly enough that it happens. Then move up the speed a fraction. This is where the metronome becomes your friend. 2 maybe 4 bpms. All the while your hand should be so relaxed you feel like you could play it forever. No strain no needless movement just one perfect placement to the next. Lemme know if that make sense to you. Today’s exercise is a perfect one to work on tension management. Simplify and slow until tension is gone and you are 100% precise and accurate on the task at hand. How easy is it to play just that fretted A string on the B note just playing quarter notes and then changing to the C note still only playing quarters and then back again? It will all feel like that.

Got Button on my shirts and trousers but on my phone…nawww. (notice it did not say pants, I didn’t want to start anyone giggling).

This goes back to Stillhand Carol M. She is the one who enlightened me by suggesting I hire a tension manager. hehe. and the rest is history. Her economy of motion is amazing.

The only thing on my phone is the dial.
