If I’m not mistaken you did say you are used to a classical guitar correct? From what I have been told classical guitars have a wider string spacing, going to a steel string guitar you might want to be careful of a nut wide of 1 11/16ths or smaller, it might be quite the adjustment, I would shoot for a nut width of 1 3/4″.

Thanks Jeff, it’s a relatively inexpensive guitar ($550.00) it had what I assumed stock strings, which should be light D’ddario’s, but they were all crudded up from store handling at the store. I put some Ernie Ball lights on it and it had that buzz, I ordered the manufactured recommended ones (D’ddario XT, installed those, I backed the truss rod off still had a buzz at the third fret of the G string. I put the spare saddle that came with it, the original one was all grooved up…….all better now……. .08 thousandths neck relief, 5/64ths at the low E and 4/64ths at the high E action, probably a high fret at the third. By the way It’s a Breedlove Rainforest Black Gold CE. It does not compare to my Martin 000-18 or my Guild D-150 CE natural, but it will do as far as taking it out of the house for traveling and what not.

I use them as well, yes very pricey, I like them, however not sure if they are worth the added expense, I do find they last longer than most.

The action is 7/64ths at the low E and 6/64ths at the high E. The action is a little high for my tastes, I will attempt to lower it a bit today and see what’s behind door number one! The intonation is pretty much spot on throughout the neck, give or take a little flat or sharp on random frets. I just thought it was odd. The response I got from the retailer was that guitars are imperfect instruments and that’s what it needed to set it up correctly……..I said BS!

I will up load one, it’s not even compensated, it has a back bevel the whole length of the saddle towards the bridge pins

It reminded me me of the music I grew up with, I never realized how much the Beach Boys (Brian Wilson) inspired a lot of bands.

Good morning, I’d like to reach out to all of you guys and gals that responded to my post, I’d like to give a sincere appreciation, and thanks to all of your concerns, and wisdom and insight to a successful and fun journey. I’m not giving up and do see progress, but like most of us it’s not coming fast enough lol, I guess that’s what makes it a journey. My main goal is to be able to change cords seamlessly up to tempo, while continuing to educate myself with theory, and above all having fun while doing it, thanks again and rock on!

Good to know, I have one as well ZAD80CE, and love it as well, it’s a fun challenge to decide which one to pick up my Martin 000 or the Zager. Thanks, Rock on!
