  • Stringing along with Tony

Posted by Mrfredsporty on August 6, 2022 at 5:00 am

I know that Tony is a huge Santa Cruz fan and it expands to their strings too. Well, if Tony recommends them Ill try them. They are about twice to three times more expensive than my faves, the authentic acoustic silk and phosphor Martins. I jumped in all the way by joining Santa Cruz string club which saves about six dollar a set. Anyway today I will take my sunburst hd 28 (named Marty) down to the local guys here in Daytona to put them on and adjust the neck as needed. Ill let you know how I like them next week. Btw they are the low tension strings since i am a weak fingered fingerstyle guy

I use them as well, yes very pricey, I like them, however not sure if they are worth the added expense, I do find they last longer than most.

Hey @Mrfredsporty , I play Martins. In fact, I play extra lights. One of the sets I love is the silk and steel or silk and phosphor string sets. I love them for finger picking. But because I love them, I really don’t care if I would love the Santa Cruz. Why bother when I already love the ones I have?

As far as lasting longer, of course a string that costs that much more lasts longer. Why? Because you want it to, you need it to. I have played strings for multiple years before. Any string.

Anyway, good luck. Let us know how the experiment goes.

    MG 😀
