Obviously the joy is in the playing and not the pure expectation that it must be a certain type of instrument. I wonder whether lap steel is less of a problem for people suffering these sorts of issues too? Anyway best of luck with the electric @punder. There are some beautiful ‘acoustic’ electrics out there too that might be worth a look as they are shallow but give that acoustic sound.

You’ve got a pretty sweet guitarsenal there @danwynne! I’m just interested to know what made you decide to go the TAC route two years ago? Sounds like you were playing quite a bit and had been for years. Was it literally just the idea of a routine or were there skills you just felt weren’t quite there?

If it gets recorded please post the link on the forum. I’d love to hear @realkurt play but sadly I’m running sound design and recording for a live theatre podcast that evening. I think this will be a real inspiration for those of us starting out and wondering where TAC might take us so best of luck on the night. Knock it out of the park.

Really smoothly played and sung. You’ve got that finger picking style just so nailed down, what a great track. Wondering about whether I should try the finger picks too because I do like playing finger style.

Good grief! Well done on that. You’re going to need new strings for Christmas.

What that says is you are just enjoying picking up the guitar and that’s the win. Well done on the century and here’s to the next one. 🤟😎🎸

My advice is don’t sweat it. To be honest these are the chords that trip us all up to start. Barres are a particular nightmare for beginners – I’m still struggling after 8 months. Set it aside for now and get on with TAC then return to it later on and see how you do. 99% of what you play will never use that chord anyway so it really won’t hold up your guitar progress. I parked it and have made huge strides on other skills like hammer ons, pull offs, strumming technique etc. and I’m enjoying every minute of it. I’ll set a 90 day goal at some stage to go back to the chords I can’t get right now and most likely with all the playing up to that point I will find my fingers much more able to sort it out.

Hi @riccsnet . It is always so interesting to read people’s stories on the forum. Most seem to echo my guitar journey, 55 yrs old, played guitar to a basic few chords level as a teen then just couldn’t ever go further, assumed I never would. I love your attitude of running in your own lane and not looking over your shoulder to compare where you are with anyone else. Music should not be a competition of who is best. There is always someone “better” but that doesn’t mean they enjoy their music more and that’s the goal, not technical ability. Some of the most beautiful melodies ever composed are simple. Some of the most complex technical speed guitar is souless. I know what I’d rather immerse myself in.

Happy TACiversary and keep on rockin’ 🤟😎🎸 Darren – Moonhare

Yes @punder they wheedle their way into your life very quickly and become a part of the family. I know the bit about taking your arm off, lead attached. Came across a heard of 35 fallow deer on a walk one day and hanging onto Lyra was like flying a kite in a tornado!

Thanks. Certainly starting to be able to use that percussive slap a little more easily now.

Thanks a lot. I’ve been doing more work on it and hope to play the full version for my family at Christmas.

Hey thanks. Although I’m getting this nailed down more now there is a VERY long way to go with my flatpicking so that’s where I fall down.
