Loads of great advice already so I’ll keep it short. I have NEVER managed all 5 daily challenges in a week. No beginner (I’m 6 months in) should be able do everything straight away or we wouldn’t need the course. I try them, then move on, making sure to fave any I like but haven’t quite got the hang of so I come back to them.

One of my 90 day goals this time is to redo the 30 day challenge. Well I’ve started playing through and I can hit them all so far at 2x speed. That was a total surprise because I couldn’t do that in month 1. Doing the daily practice has improved my playing without me realising. Again – I rarely get through more than 2-3 daily challenges in a week.

So don’t ‘fret’ (sorry for that one). 10 Minutes or more if you can on a challenge, pick some faves to really concentrate on doing well (or some skill lessons you like), do what you can with the rest but mostly get in the routine and the skills will sneak up on you.

Wow. Never seen those before. Thanks for sharing that @ted_h . I will have to see if I can find them online.

I feel your pain but the beer takes the edge off.

Now I have two boxers that I’m sure would help out with that! Although I suspect they’d just swallow them whole. perhaps safer to look at the Fenders.

Wow – a hybrid pick! I like the look of those. Thanks for the tip @Michelle-PSL

That’s a new one on me. They are pricey but I guess sometimes you get what you pay for.

Fight the good fight and we’ll get there one day!

I can’t help feeling I’ve just stepped off a landspeeder into Obi Wan’s abode! Thanks for that perspective @jumpinjeff . As a novice with the pick perhaps I’m trying to shortcut my way to competence. I will see how I get on with these really useful pointers and if all else fails I think I have a tube of superglue at the back of that drawer with all the pin tacks, paper clips and old elastic bands!

Looks pretty cool @PaulL – One for my list to look up.

Thanks @That_Guy – never heard of that before. But can we trust the reviewer? He looks a bit shady to me. 😄

That sounds interesting. What I’m going to do is order a few different suggestions and see if I get on with any. I think like strings, it’s going to be a lot of personal preference but at least picks are cheap!

Thanks @Fletch . Not so many Gorillas in rural Eastern England but Dunlops… might be able to get those. One for my list.

Haha – looks like perhaps the wrong way was the right way for you? Some interesting comments from this thread and not what I was expecting!

Thanks. it was really nice to learn one of the riffs (I don’t always manage them) and develop it a little further.

Couldn’t agree more. I’m really getting into hammer ons and pull offs although the speed challenge is going to motor through at a pace I can’t even dream of at the moment. I will go back to the first time through a couple of weeks ago and just carry on at a pace that seems vaguely human!
