Great job. I think you’re right to mix it up a little out of the straight pentatonic when it feels right. That’s when things start to get interesting. The improvs are still a weak point for me but feeling inspired to have another go now.

@tailsawaggin has really hit the nail on the head here. I am finding that by practicing the techniques Tony demonstrates, and having that daily incentive to pick up the guitar and play I am subconsciously absorbing the skills I need to play other stuff – and I’ve only been here 6 months. I know this is working because I follow Angela Petrilli on YouTube and her riff rundowns where you learn a song each week. I could get nowhere near following at tempo 6 months ago. Suddenly I’m able to follow and although I might not get every single one, I am 90% there and I also know the techniques I need to play.
I know some people don’t get on with Tony’s approach, but for me it has catapulted me forward with my playing and I am sure it is that gentle osmosis of technique that is working and not the act of trying to learn the chords to Dust in the Wind or whatever. I also like the support you get when you ask questions and the 90 day party is a blast when they break you out into small rooms to meet fellow TACers face to face. Give it an honest and open try then if it simply doesn’t work for you at least you know you gave it a shot. I think all these courses are personal taste. None are bad, some are just a better fit. My Christmas present from my family this year is going to be the Fretboard Wizard course. I think I’ll be about ready for it by then which I wasn’t in April. Take care, enjoy playing and see you around! Darren (Moonhare)

Really
inspired to read about your journey which pretty much exactly mirrors
my own. Been with TAC 6 months and already finding my way into my guitar
playing after 41 years of stagnation and prevarication. So a big
personal WELL DONE from me on your 1st TACiversary. I’m really inspired
to hear how it’s gone and it really is only when you look back at how
hard things were when you started that you realise the progress you’ve
made. This month as part of my 90 day goal I’ve been going back through the 30 day challenge.
So far I can do every single one on 2x speed. I was lucky to hit normal
at the start. Keep on going and good luck with year 2 @TmThorGOT ! -
Time for a travel guitar perhaps? Mind you would you trust it to the baggage handlers??? 🤔

😎 Cool! Moving onto the electric brings a whole new feel. But keep an eye out for blue flashing lights in case the Acoustic police drop by. A few hours in a cell should give you some great material for your next ‘False imprisonment blues.

Ashamed to say I don’t know this song but I love your rendition and your voice is great. Really enjoyed listening to this, thanks.

Hi there and thanks for that. As to how I did it I played along with the original lead line (with headphones on) a bunch of times and recorded each one on my camera then in the video software I had to line them all up. That is what took the time! Took longer to get the guitars to match up than to actually play it. But it was a good learning exercise. Next time I’ll do a count in!

Hey thanks so much. I was playing the riff out and thought it would sound nice with chords to fill it out then I got carried away! But that’s what happens with TAC. You sit down for 10 minutes then your wife comes in and says that 2 hours is enough for one evening!

Thanks a bunch. This was an experiment and I’m pleased with how it came out. Might try to do another but use a metronome to get my timing straight!
-
Hey that’s so nice of you to say. I have played along to something on screen before but never tried multiple takes to stitch together and aprt from my timing going a little bit in the middle I was really pleased how it sounded when all the extra guitars came in. Might try some more.
-
Hey thanks for that. I didn’t know if just playing along over and over and filming the differet takes would work when it was all put together so it was a bit of an experiment before I went to work one day.
-
Thanks a bunch. One day I’ll clone someone who can go to work while I play guitar at home!

Thanks. Must admit I’ve never tried layering videos like this before so wasn’t sure if it would work but was really pleased when I played it back.
