You have been nothing but supportive of my efforts and I’m so pleased you have found guitar and got to your TACiversary now. Music is a great comfort in times of adversity. I cannot imagine my life without it and I’m glad if has supported you through such challenging times too. Congratulations and guitar geeks unite!

Hi @Michelle-PSL. I am shocked to find out this is your first year. I haven’t been here long but I kind of assumed you were a long term member. That us awesome and a really inspiring story. Glad your Covid fears were not realised. You have taken it on in the most positive way imaginable. I think we have all learned a few lessons about the true value of life. Here’s to the next year!

Great news. Those are the moments thst make it all worthwhile. I still have no clue how to navigate the fretboard but still early days.

Well done. I manage about 2 to 3 a week. I’m hopeless at the Friday chords and still not great on the Wednesday improvs. One day…

Haha – thanks. I was bought that shirt by my riding buddies after going down on a diesel spill in the highlands of Scotland. Came away with bruises (wearing the right gear) and a smashed up bike although not so bad I couldn’t ride the rest of the 1000 miles.

Worth a go of you haven’t tried. Can come up with some lovely chords even if I haven’t a clue what they are!

Thanks – I love these open tunings. Must try some more.

Thankyou so much @Marisa – I really fell down the rabbit hole – it was so much fun. I would like to retune my Fender so I can play at any time.
-
Thanks @Philb – Definitely has that ring to it doesn’t it? I always like those ringing open notes you get from those alt tunings.

@stevieblues you are so right. Wherever you play on the fretboard something really musical or unusual comes out. I guess we probably overuse the ‘fun’ word in TAC but this was just the definition of that. I played for about 2.5 hours that night.

Hi @stevieblues . No the chords are different. when you hit thecdtringsxwith no fretting you get a G chord. By barring straight across and sliding up you get all the other chords. I’m no expert but I’d say it is less versatile but great within the key you tune it to.

Thanks @Loraine – definitely good fun. Might leave my old guitar in alt tuning rather than keep having to retune.
