wow great questions. Now here are essentially the rules. Do what you want when you want. BUT!….SHOW UP! yes it is assumed that you are most likely going to get hooked a little and will start doing more than 10 minutes. When you feel like an adventure do a daily challenge. Its all up to you. the other thing I would encourage is put youtube on your big tv and lookup beginning guitar songs for acoustic guitar. You may find.a fun easy one to play. there is no doubt that playing songs is a major key to enjoyment and getting the most out of your journey which you can share .You are on your way!

Im just the opposite of you. Im so new to flat picking that I was also considering and in fact did skip a lot of flat picking. Then I tried Billy in the Lowground. I like it and am actually making some progress. For me the thing i liked is that its not a bunch of strumming but more like fingerpicking in that its individual notes. If I could Id like to encourage you to try fingerpicking just a little here and there. You might find that you can at least tolerate it a bit . The main thing for me is that it is one more tool in the toolbox and helps me just a little bit in growing my guitar geekiness😇

I will eventually drive myself nuts about this. Even though my Martin is a large dreadnaught so far my favorite strings for it are Martin authentic acoustic silk and phosphor with the flex core. This month I’m experimenting with the Tommy Emanuel signature.

Funny you mentioned singing. I’m realizing that my songs require singing. That’s why I’m suffering through recoding on my iPad so I can get a little better

thanks for the thoughtful reply. My “total immersion” concept is really very much like your total learning ideas. I want to be like a sponge but find Im more like a rubber band in that I want to absorb everything but most bounces off. In reality little bits and pieces are getting through and it has to be a win in the long run
