I couldn’t agree more. As a fellow martial artists I know exactly what you’re talking about. I have no musical instrument background and learning the guitar over the last couple months was like learning a new language but I haven’t given up and now I can play things (poorly) and it makes way more sense.

In fact, due to my martial arts background I don’t even care too terribly much about practice being “fun.” Of course there needs to be a fun payoff but practice doesn’t need to always be fun.

Just started a couple months ago but two things I found as a fellow small hands is the way you spread your fingers and pushing the wrist forward more help reach the top (low) strings.

What I mean by the way you spread your fingers is don’t spread them apart but spread them “long.” I’ll try to find a picture if I can.

I only started playing in July. Should I get on fretboard wizard for the upcoming round or wait until next time?

I think Ron-N was curious what the runtime of the course is – but I may be misunderstanding his question.

I think that’s really cool it includes quizzes and workbooks. Quizzing is a tried and true research proven method to improve memory and comprehension of subject matter.

Thanks! One other question related to this thread: when changing chords are you supposed to, or is it advisable to, mute the strings with your wrist or something when you lift off your fingers?

Thanks! I measured and it was a little hard to tell but I think they might be 4/32 in at the 12th fret.

I think my brain is slowly but surely figuring it out on it’s own. It seems like it’s just a kind of innate sense that develops of how to lift your fingers off without making a dying animal sound.

Thanks, I’ll keep trying! Yes, I’ve been playing for a little less than 2 months.

Hi Edith, you might want to go back over the lesson “Learn how to read tablature” in 30 days to play. I’ve had to refer back to it a few times myself.
