Great version on the guitar as well, Michelle 🙂
The ukulele version is on your day 13.
You posted it in the old TAC system, which still has a search function – oooh.
I just typed in “Emerson” – got a few hits on Tony’s son – but is was still a piece of cake to find 😀 -
Lovely rendition – I love the “arhs” in between, when you have to catch up on the lyrics 😀

I understand that the need for simplicity has collected all video submissions here in the “Play for Us!” forum, but I really miss the “Wednesday Solo Zone” one.
I think the improvisation part of Tony’s teaching methodology is important – after all it is central in every week’s five Daily Practices, but at the same time I am aware that only a minority of TAC members are interested in working actively with the improvisations.
Many are not ready (I wasn’t in my first three years in TAC), many have done them several times and are taking a break, so my experience from submitting improvs for the last 30 weeks is that between 8 and 16 people react. In the Solo Zone forum we could comfortably see the last four weeks of improvs without bothering people not interested, but this time I have learned that submitting an improv later than the rest of the usual suspects, in the middle of contributions from Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday VOMs makes it sink like a stone down to page 2, where very few people go 😂

Very close to the 2/3 mark 👍

Great improv, @Jonathandavid 👏
Too bad about your problem with acccessing the background track from Drone Zone.
The Rhythm track worked fine 👍 -

I think we are supposed to post improvs here in “Play for Us!” – mixed in with all the other recordings 😜
Very nice improv, @Michelle_in_PSL
It is a fun background track, even if it is a bit fast 😀</div>

Great job, @Michelle_in_PSL 👏
Keep them coming 🙂 -
Hi @Jack_B
Using upstrokes is a question of economy.
Try to play with only downstrokes, and you will realise that most of the time (such as when you are staying on the same string) you are doing an upstroke between every downstroke anyway – just to get the pick in place for the next downstroke.
So by playing on upstrokes as well you can double your picking speed.
That you cannot hear a tonal difference between the up and down stroke is just an advantage.Wikipedia quote:
“Crosspicking is a technique for playing the mandolin or guitar using a plectrum or flatpick in a rolling, syncopated style across three strings. This style is probably best known as one element of the flatpicking style in bluegrass music, and it closely resembles a banjo roll, the main difference being that the banjo roll is fingerpicked rather than flatpicked.”
Crosspicking is often, but not necessarily, done using alternate picking,.
In this week’s daily practices Tony often use the down-down-up crosspicking technique, which is not alternate picking.-

Great submission, @Michelle_in_PSL
Incredible, how you can keep finding new tunes 👏

Thank you, @dr_dave for your kind words ❤
I am afraid that you are not the only one of the people I normally communicate with that have significantly decreased their activity in TAC social media.
I have posted my previous comment to support@tonypolecastro.com, hoping that they might somehow facilitate working with the improvs with a forum.
After all – there is a whole forum for TACiversaries, and until now it contains five entries 🙂
