You asked about the microphone. How about you? Have you had any experience with a mic; any advice? This is one I picked up cheap used. I did read on it first, and it seemed decent; but you have to be right up close to it or it will not pick up the sound.

Nice job! A finger picking intro; solid strumming; and some riffs in the mix. Way to go!

Happy Birthday young man!
Glad you were able to play that long without a problem.
-
That was most excellent, sounding great! Your finger picking was so well done. I really enjoyed that. Thanks!

@Kitman Thanks!
I have never seen them live, but would like to. Glad you got to enjoy that experience.@albert_d Thanks! Yes, little things I have picked up in TAC are great for enhancing chords. Nice you picked up on that.
@Bill_Brown Thanks! I was just using a very small acoustic amp that also had a plug in for a microphone. It didn’t allow for any adjustments or enhancements to the vocals, but did allow me to balance the volume of the vocals and guitar so I didn’t have to try to sing as loudly. That way the vocals can be heard clearer than usual. I believe that did help as I was able to concentrate on tone and staying on key more.
@Christopher_H Thanks! Jakob Dylan said the song came from when he had just moved to New York at the age of 18. He would look out his window and see the homeless man. It is based upon Jakob’s real experience. Great song writing for an 18 year old.
Thank you all for taking the time to listen, and the kind words.

Congrats for keeping at it! That’s how we all progress, no matter where we start from.
-
Really nice mood you created with that chord progression. Some finger picking, and use of bass with strumming worked well. Great job!
-
That’s great! Congrats!

@Bill_Brown Thanks! A long way to go. Reading your comments makes me wish some of us could hang out and work on some things. I appreciate the knowledge you bring.

I still just use my iphone to record, position it for both video and audio. I tried using a webcam and blue snowball mic directly into the computer, but the quality wasn’t as good. This does work pretty good for what I need. I did put a reverb pedal between guitar and amp for the vocal. Someone I know who does sound recommended it, saying even a little reverb helps, and most vocalists use some. It sounds better wet than dry. The amp was $25 used a few years ago. I put two pics, but for some reason, they do not show up after I click to post.

@stevieblues
It was half and half. I had a lot of the lyrics down pretty good; but some, not so well. I had the lyrics in front of me, and referred to them as needed, looking at the key words or the start of a verse to help me out. Thank you for listening, and the the kind words.-
