Welcome aboard! Hope you enjoy TAC as much as many others have.

Not sure what “brand new player” means, assuming that you have been playing for a few months or less. It’s going to take time to develop those no-look skills. It’s good that you are already trying to do things without looking because that’s exactly how you will develop them.
Keep showing up and doing your 10 minute minimum and you can’t help but improve! I have seen so much growth in the 10 months I’ve been playing. Growth isn’t linear, you might not notice anything for a long stretch and then suddenly it will come it spurts. Focus on having fun and trying to get something out of each challenge. Don’t think you have to master the challenge of the day! Look for wins (any size), something that went better than last time or maybe a small lesson you can take away. These things will add up over time.

I think that no matter how good you are, you will always feel that you could get better. Do you enjoy playing? When we met in person I got the impression playing guitar was very enjoyable for you. I have noticed in the past few weeks a big uptick in the pleasure I get from the guitar. I have seen a bit of the magic happen that others (@Loraine for example) talk about, nothing big but just, seemingly out of nowhere, being able to do that thing that yesterday (or last month) I couldn’t.
Perhaps those moments are diminishing for you at your level. I remember when I got to a point as a snow skier, where just going up and down the hill seemed rather monotonous. I wasn’t being challenged anymore and that’s when I took up snowboarding. I found new joy learning to snowboard, at the same time skiing became more fun again because I could do things that I couldn’t do on a snowboard.

I wish the TABs were more consistently featured. Some (very few) show the down and up symbols. Some have the chord shapes but many do not.

Nice journey, thanks for sharing! Hope you reach your goals this new TAC year!

You can also download the Fender Tune App, it’s completely free to use the tuning portion, but you do have to register it. I used this in the beginning and it gave me no problems. I have since purchased a Fender FT-1 professional guitar tuner, runs about 20 bucks on amazon that has never let me down.
Oh my, just realized this question was asked last June! I wasn’t even a TAC member back then! lol!

I grew up in Canada and we always sang a different melody.

I sympathize with this issue. I used to print everything out and put them in a binder but found that’s not ideal either unless I invest in a music stand as well to hold the binder. I am now copying all the TABs into a OneNote file. I have a large screen so I can display a full page and still be able to read it. At this point I’m not needing more than that because I don’t get that far into the lessons.
I wonder if one could adapt a music TAB sheet to be used in a teleprompter APP? I might look into that.
Well, that didn’t take long. I found this:

Thanks for that perspective. I’m six months in but I look at myself as “a Lifer” at this point. So much value here!

I see TAC a lot is a lot like farming.
In my short time in TAC (6 months) I’ve noticed that progress isn’t linear at all, it comes in spurts and often when you least expect it. All of sudden I will realize I can do things that I struggled with mightily! You will reap long after you have sowed, that’s why it’s important to not miss too many sessions in a row and to never quit. -
