That was brilliant, Niels. Sorry that I have been less participative.

The move to de-emphasize the forums and get people to use them less has probably worked brilliantly if I am a representative example. I have written a small fraction of what I used to write and the site overhaul is actually causing me to lose a lot of interest in the whole guitar thing. I am playing less and unfortunately not enjoying things as much. I doubt that’s the result they were seeking. I still enjoyed your improv, but it ia not as easy to find my way to content I like and I am consequently not inclined to put much effort into poking around the site. I’d like to see the metrics on how effectively they have slowed the forum use. I think that was their main concern.

That’s a great win, John. From what I remember, this crosspicking week was a lot of fun when last I did it. I had favorited it in the old TAC because that was the only way to get to it “off-sequence.” That’s because it was not part of the Libraries and it’s not a special course. I think all these special weeks, like the MJH week, should find their way into the special courses section.

They removed the feature because they said few people used it and they had too many tech inquiries about it. The people who did use it have been commenting about that. Some people work offline, and it’s a handy feature for them.

Such a relaxing little tune, and you seem perfectly relaxed. @jumpinjeff would love that freedom from any tension.

The three steady strums that puntuate many of the phrases seem to cry out, “Jam with me.”

Won’t you take some time to jam with me?

We could write a nice tune, Key of B

It may top the charts, we’ll have to see

    Cleverly-crafted, smooth delivery.

If that’s the case, it could explain loss of the reply I composed but I fail to understand why I could no longer find the original post to which I was responding, nor the other response that had been posted by another member.

@Bill Brown – Back in an earlier incarnation, before we had the two-sided TAC from which we just migrated within the last wek, I once had a screen pop up to congratulate me on a Golden Pick award. I never even found out what it was. I wonder if that’s a skeleton or if they have re-instituted something that existed in the early days of TAC. I say that because I now miraculously again can see the old conversations I had with other members during my first six months of membership in 2017.

Some months ago, I asked some people if they knew anything about that old “Golden Pick” screen that popped up for me in the “old-old” version of TAC (the pre-“Community” iteration that prevailed in late 2017). Sharon T (Mama TAC, whose name I was unable to tag – maybe I made a mistake) told me that Tony handed out some golden picks at a TAC Jamboree m, the original incarnation of what morphed into the “Acoustic Life Festival” when they outgrew Buck’s T4 Lodge. (Edited – OK, I found out Sharon spells her name @mommatac – rats, it still does jot appear to have tagged her!)

Also, the older single-site version of TAC had a points system. Rathe than accumulating points from how many posts you made or how many “likes” you got, the points were conferred based on completion of lessons, learning songs from the vault, completing special challenges, etc. I’m reading into the current state of the website that TAC central does not want to foster competition of any kind. I guess I’m OK with or with out badges, points etc. I don’t think they affect me positively or negatively, but I confess some preference for any recognition to be achievement-based as related to learning guitar playing or other aspects of music.

Mr. Scoggins, that was an outstanding demonstration video. I’m drooling every bit as much over your playing as I am over the guitar. Yes, it appears @DavidScoggins has been doing quite a bit of playing for the cat’s critical ear, and the cat must be quite the instructor. Bravo. I expect you won’t want to be leaving the house very much at all. Congrats, and enjoy!

I have to weigh in on the “eyes closed” approach mentioned by @Mike-Gaurnier . I’ve been doing that for a few years and it’s pretty much of a habit. I rarely play with my eyes open. Occasionally I need to look at my fretting hand for hard transitions or at a sheet of lyrics if I’m unsure about them, but for the most part I play and sing from memory. I usually memorize songs pretty quickly.
