Hi all! It’s true… there’s a reason they call it the F-chord!
If you can play a C chord then you should… eventually… be able to play an F. You move the 2nd and 3rd finger over one string each and then flatten that 1st. Yes… easier said than done but very possible with time. Notice I didn’t say practice. The P word isn’t my favorite and so I play songs. When I’m wanting to learn a new chord I find a song with that chord (sometimes the songs find me to teach me a chord though). Then I just keep playing that song over and over until the new chord is just part of it and I don’t have to stop and look and put my fingers down slowly in the right spots. Once I can cleanly transition to the new chord it’s a true accomplishment and can be factored into other songs. This is just my method of keeping it fun and may not work for everyone. Just throwing out out there as the F chord is pretty common and a great one to know and get down.
Good luck and most of all have fun!

I’m thrilled to hear such good news even if tempered with not so great. I’m not here often but look forward to your posts (both playing and encouraging others) and I was so sad to hear of your latest injury and that it was potentially the end. Well no she says and plows on…I love it! Keep on keeping on as they say @Loraine… so glad to see you returning! I look forward to future posts from you.

Don’t like that one? Here’s a few more:

Reading TAB is SOOO much easier than reading actual sheet music even though there are limitations like no time signature and no indication of how long to hold any particular notes. Still, it’s the thing that propelled my guitar journey forward super fast as it opened up a whole world of songs I knew but I can’t read sheet music to save my life (OK, maybe in that one case).
Have fun!

Thanks for the reminder of this soft rock classic though I wish you were still playing for us at the other place too.

Hopefully the store did that for you when you bought it. They don’t always do that and it may have solved your problem with the Yamaha too.

Prosthetics are possible too. Just ask the famous guitar player from Black Sabbath, Mr. Tony Iommi.

This Is What Happened To Tony Iommi's Fingers - Grunge
Iommi is generally considered one of the best rock guitarists of all time, a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Those are crazy feats when you consider he's missing a couple crucial body parts needed for that … Continue reading

Go slow. Time and muscle memory is the only way. Better to go slow and memorize the right way than to try to play at speed and keep getting it wrong. Patient practice is the key.

LOTS of ways to do this with browser plug-ins and software. I suggest you do an internet search because I’m not about to tell you on his own site how to get content from Tony that he clearly doesn’t want you to have (or he would have made it available already).

Yup… just thought you should know. Most people post without ever realizing what they’ve given away.

Just remember that you lose ownership of the video once posted and YT can do whatever they want with it. Pretty much the reason you don’t see my stuff there…. and won’t.

As to pinky use….it depends where you put it down. If you put it at the 3rd fret on the 4th string (while keeping the shape you’ve already described) then it’s still an F.

Definitely. For the purposes of TAC either would be fine.
