Welcome to the fun @Kafka but remember, the word is actually “Guitarsenal” and merely includes the same letters as your hated team. 😜

Wow…way more organized than I could ever be! Thanks for the cheatsheet. I’m really needing to remind myself to do that and this will help.

Wow @TMutter just wow. I hear you at the VOMs but didn’t know all this back story. My sincere condolences at these losses but congrats also go to you for making the commitment to continue and to improve. I’m sure your relatives are oh so proud of all you’ve accomplished since they left this planet.

Although you thank TAC and the VOMs it’s also we, the attendees and TAC members who have benefitted from hearing your songs, your banter and yes, your postings. Although I can’t write anything musical whatsoever I find inspiration and the “one day (I might do that too)” from hearing your tunes and the other amazing composers who are part of this group. All the best on the new EP and going forward!

The GS mini should help some as it’s a smaller neck size. Maybe get a single in-person lesson with someone local who can actually work with you on hand position. It’s not really intuitive and, with a larger neck I can see how you could have problems but they should be correctable in most cases. Good luck and enjoy that Mini…it’s a great guitar!

Well, acoustic amplifiers and electric amplifiers have different circuitry if I recall and neither will likely sound great through an amp designed for the other. I’m not in-person familiar with the Spark but if you want a real acoustic dedicated amp that you can actually gig with I’d say try the Fishman Loudbox Mini or their Artist models.

Sounds like an amazing time and I’m sorry I couldn’t do the 1100 mile or so round trip journey up and down the Coast. I’m hoping too for Colorado in the Summer (a work trip if it doesn’t get cancelled…again) and maybe even a trip to the East Coast sometime before the late Fall of 2022. There’s so many people to see and I’ve been stuck at home for far, far too long. Until then I look forward to any sights/sounds that may have been recorded, wish you the best on the remainder of your trip and for safe travels home @AttyTJ!

Such a fascinating discussion for me because (as I’ve said before) my memory isn’t a “locked safe” or a “sponge” but more of a “sieve” and as such I can’t remember songs when I’m halfway through and look away from the tab in front of me. Remembering songs isn’t an issue, it’s remembering how to PLAY them and that’s simply a skill I continue to work on….with little success to date but I still try.

That’s a definitely great accomplishment @markvguitar! Yes, I too am a FW “grad” (although writing a song seems to be a big mental block for me). I put that in quotes because the learning is never ending (and thank goodness for that too!). Although I first did FW years ago I come back to it every now and then for a refresher, a reminder and for the additional nuggets of wisdom I seem to glean from each time around. Let FW sink in a bit and then go definitely back and do it again is my advice. In the meantime bask in the glow of all the knowledge you got. HUGE win!

Hi @JJM and congrats on starting your guitar journey! Might I suggest you look at a site that shows the chords for songs you actually know and like? Once you have the songs in front of you just practice them daily and hope it all sinks in. I’ve found playing the tunes I like is motivating and thus I play more which means I improve and can play more difficult songs all the while. Good luck and have fun!

Such a fun tune @Philb. Thanks for playing it for us. I also played it at one of the VOMs and people seemed to really enjoy it. Hope to see you there one day!

It’s mostly a comfort thing but I also think the fact that players of more popular music styles tend to stand and play to their audiences may be part of it. Try both ways out and you’ll see which works/is more comfortable to you @NW7 .

Knives can’t be too sharp. Fingers can be too cut-able (is that even a word?) though.

Sorry to hear of the damage. Glad it’s only temporary and always good to remember these things could have been a lot worse.

Might I suggest some Django Reinhardt? 😜 https://www.openculture.com/2015/07/how-django-reinhardt-after-losing-two-fingers-developed-an-innovative-style.html
