| Why I'm Here |
I am completely and totally new to guitar. I am a woodwind player by history, still can play a mean flute, but my little girls is sick. She is medically fragile and no longer gets music at school. She loves music. We took her to Music Together classes when she was a baby. She has always bopped to the beat.  I was determined to just play some kids songs for her so I took up guitar. I have only started January of this year. I can play few open chords, and am getting faster at changing them… enough to play my daughter some kids songs and she loves it… but it has become more than that. It has become something for me….respite. As a full time working mother of 2, I have my hands full. I don’t do much for myself. But I have taken a few minutes every day to practice guitar. Kicking myself that I didn’t take it up 20 years ago (I bought a guitar then. My cousin borrowed it, and never gave it back.)

Getting better at guitar is now a personal challenge. The one thing in the day I do for myself. Even if I only have 10-20 minutes at night after everyone is bed and I pass out of exhaustion. It's my respite, my escape. I just love having a guitar in my hands. I used to play flute in the community band, but my life and my sick child really prevents me from getting out much. I love music and a challenge and the guitar has already really been good for my mental and emotional health.
