awesome ! You have your own laboratory going on !
I do have a TC Helicon which has the harmony option but I stopped using it becuase I didn think it sounded natural. I did buy, and use a stomp box for live performances. The brand is called a Wazinator and it works great. I keep it pretty low but I like the low end thump that helps some songs move along. Happy experimenting !

I dont know if you are a fan of John Prine but his book “<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>John Prine Beyond Words” is wonderful. It has photos of John as well as photos of the actual handwritten lyrics when he was writing the song. The benefit of learning Johns music is that he used very basic chords. Most of his songs (about 70%…. i calculated it … thats another story) in this book use 3 chords. As you progress you can begin playing some of this songs finger style. Learning Johns songs was how I learned to play finger style.

I played for years and could never get comfortable with a pick. Then one day I was at Guitar Center and I grabbed a couple of their free branded pics from the little bowl near the cash registers. Next time I was there I got a few more and then bought a pack. I did not play with them. I just had them in all my pockets so when I reached in I pulled one out and just held in my hand. If I was driving I had one in my hand. If I was at a movie or watching TV, I had one in my hand. After about a month it just felt natural and when I started playing my guitar with a pic it just felt like an extension of my finger. Anyway – it was a game changer for me. Good luck !

I started playing percussion when I was in the 5th grade and played through college so I have a pretty good sense of rhythm. Regarding the stomp box I do think it adds a lot to certain songs. If you are comfortable taping your foot in time then playing the stomp box will sound pretty good. And you dont have to just play the down beat. You can use it to add a punch to the end of a phrase etc. Just takes some experimentation and practice.

Thanks for listening – it is a fun picking pattern. I actually came up with the picking pattern and chord progression first and then after writing the lyrics I remembered the latter and brought them together.

Thanks – keep up the TAC work and you will get there !
