@BarbaraM One is the minor pentatonic and the other major pentatonic. The major starts with your pinky on the root note, and you play your index, middle and pinky towards the headstock. while the minor starts with the index on the root note and you’re playing towards the body of the guitar.

@redrivermonkey Congratulations on your 46th wedding anniversary. That’s a very cool thing amongst itself, but then the exciting experience of participating, with complete strangers but having a commonality, that is so cool. Congrats on facing your nervousness and hesitation and trusting it would be okay. That gives other of us permission to try out something new ourselves.

@Sandbar I got such a kick out of your post. I absolutely love the enthusiasm. I agree that the drone bass is awesome. It’s cool to see the excitement and to hear how you’re playing along with the videos and the jamming out on your own. I would love to see your band, ages faces when you pull the guitar out. Keep on having fun and sharing your enthusiasm!

I think their plan is to have weekly Family hours that you’ve seen the last several weeks. It’s a new concept, and I think Maggie’s killing it and a great choice by TAC to lead them with occasional sit in’s by Tony. It is in answer to requests for more connection and content. I think we’ll be seeing more of it, unless it isn’t working as a whole for TAC. I hear about them through emails. If you aren’t receiving the emails, make sure they’re not going to spam. If you aren’t receiving them, try contacting Victoria at the service desk to make sure they have your current email.

I don’t pay any attention to the counters. They’ve always been wonky, and we all have today. As long as you know you’re doing the minimum of 10 minutes per day and moving forward in building your foundation and skills, that should be all that really matters.

@michaeljlachancecogeco-ca Welcome to TAC! I agree with everything @Philb said. TAC teaches foundational skills, and it is meant to build a solid base and functional tools. It is not meant to be perfected, but to progress and strengthen your foundation. Progress over perfection. Keep moving forward. If you want to visit something again, hit the heart and it will save to your profile under favorites. I actually suggest you revisit some things a few months down the road to see your progress. If you do the daily challenges, you’ll have the chance to do this periodically throughout the year, as some lessons rotate back around. Keep asking questions and reading other posts in the forums for great info and advice.

@KevinZ Ahhhh, love me some good Billy Idol. One of my nicknames in high school was Rebel. And I was teased in high school for liking Billy Idol. I use the idiom Rebel Yell as one of my alter egos in a game I play.

@saddle.nut Great to have you here. Everyone has given some great advice. I’ll try and be brief, but knowing myself that’s probably not going to happen.. This is your journey, so however you want to approach any of the lessons is up to you. TAC is a foundational site,; meaning that it teaches the foundation skills and knowledge necessary to then branch out and play more effectively.

As for the week being checked as completed when they weren’t, that is a technical issue that Victoria and the Tech group can look into. I e never heard of it happening before, and I’ve been here several years. I have heard people comment on lessons being marked as favorites, but the people insist they didn’t take that weeks lessons or a particular lesson. That is very possible, because many of the courses do rotate back around. If you marked it as a favorite the first time through, it would still show that

It is not necessary to take the skills courses first. The skills courses can or cannot be chosen by you to take. There is absolutely nothing that directs people to take all the skills courses before the Dailies. Most people go through the 30 days to play, the next 6 chords, and then they start to look at skills course, the dailies, Fretboard Wizard, or whatever interests them. As previously mentioned. This is your journey, so make it what you want it to be, within the confines of what Tony offers.

Finally, TAC is not capable of developing a curriculum for each individual member. There are outright beginners on the site (as I was when I started) to those that have played for years or even decades. The challenges are interspersed throughout the material taught. Some is easy and others more difficult. The goal is to progress through disciplined practice on a daily reprieve.

Hope this helped answer some of your concerns.

@Moose408 Congrats on posting your first video. The hurdle to get there is so high, but you made out over it. Great performance, and your vocals were okay. They’ll get stronger with the more comfortable to get and the more you play for others. Your tempo was very good, and your strumming hand was very level and continuous. Your chord transitions were great. I have this song saved to learn.. I would think it would be difficult to pay and sing together

Yes, that is a good idea, because of how stiff I am. Another person at my jam last weekend suggested getting a drum stick and just using it as a pendulum and to practice up and down just when I’m idle. It will create muscle memory if the motion. I’ve slowed down my playing to and tried to focus on when I was having problems and identifying what’s going on.

Have you looked at the members list and searched for others near you where you might be able to meet up? You do so by clicking the down arrow next to your profile name and photo, then click members, and search. I suggest searching just by state, otherwise you limit your search. You’ll get a lot more results doing the state. If the state doesn’t bring up that many, try the keyword search. If you had the full state name listed under state, then search by the abbreviation instead and vice versa. If you live near a state border, type in the border state to find more that might be near you.

Comped or refunded those that paid? Nope. That was a sore spot when they made it free to all the members.
