@mmmurray, a thought occurred to me last night too. Do you happen to be playing a nylon string guitar (classical)? The strings on them often come out of tune while playing a song. It can be very frustrating having to retune after every song.

@Goldenhull Welcome to the TAC community! Over 2 weeks under your belt is a great win! You’re setting boundaries and building a strong foundation, even with just 10-15 minutes per day. Look forward to seeing you around the forums and lessons!

@MMMURRAY its possible that the battery is getting low, as suggest by Carol, but I’m wondering if it might be a bad tuning peg that keeps loosening causing the string to become looser and untuned. Are you saying that you use the tuner to tune the low E, but while playing it, the string becomes untuned and loosens to a D#? If that’s the case, I’m pretty sure it’s the tuning oeg. You can replace the pegs or have a luthier do it.

@MadMax89 Welcome to the TAC community! Great question. The dailies are meant to introduce you to a focal area and skill, and each day builds upon the previous one. The goal is progress over perfection. Practice for a minimum of 10 minutes per day, and then mark the lesson complete . It doesn’t mean that you have to stop practicing it, but don’t spend an inordinate amount of time on it. That becomes counterproductive. You will make progress and improve on your skills by following the above. Everything builds upon what you’ve previously learned, and you will improve. Keep moving forward though. If there is a particular lesson you like or want to revisit, mark it as a favorite (click on heart icon right side below the video). It will be saved to your favorites which can be seen under Favorites in your profile. Good luck and have fun!

@John_Hall Absolutely loved this, especially the enthusiasm of your wife and the grandkids! Thank you so much for sharing this. Could you share the lyrics with us?

MemberJuly 12, 2023 at 2:13 pm in reply to: Singing when Melody and Rhythm differ, any advice@speckpgh Funny, I just had a conversation with someone this week about the correct strumming going out the window when vocals are added. Turns out that’s quite common, even for advanced players. Just has something to do worth muscle memory, and the fact our brains can’t consciously pay attention to two converging thought processes. Something has to be on muscle memory while conscious thought deals with the other. Most of the time, guitarists simply revert to something that “sounds good.” Whether right or not, have you noticed all the different interpretations of strum and pick patterns between players that are playing the same exact song. It’s all in our own interpretation of a song.
As for the Dsus’, those will become more natural as you play and sing. Spend a little more time on those areas than the ones you already do well. Soon they’ll become muscle memory too.

Awesome @outdoorgator ! Congratulations on your first video! Great song, and you had clean chords, and great picking. I love the fun that you were having. Made ,e smile 😊. Can’t wait to see more videos.

Hey @Roisin , go to the current daily challenge, and on the left will be the menu of all the month’s lessons. Simply look at the previous week and you can go back to any of the lessons, as long as it is the same month that we’re currentky on. Once a month is over, you cannot go back to it. Therefore, if you really like a week or day and would like to revisit it, I suggest you favorite it by clicking on the heart icon at the bottom right of the video. The video will be saved to your favorites, which can be found by clicking icon your profile and clicking favorites.

@Brian-76 Glad to hear how great FBW has been for you. As for your suggestion, and it’s a great suggestion, send it to Customer support by clicking on the bottom left link where it says Support with a ?. This area of Community Support is occasionally looked at by Tony and the TAC gang, but it is mainly to ask the other members for support on something.

Welcome to TAC @Roisin ! It was a great week to start on the dailies. Not only was playing an alternative open tuning fun, but it was a brand spanking new week of lessons being introduced to us. The entire week was fun. Keep up the great work, and yes, take it slow, but keep moving forward. Try not to get hung up on trying for perfection. The goal is progress over perfection.

Great practice and way to welcome others Tj

Thanks so much @DPC71 . I really like the guitar too. It’s much easier to play than I would have thought.

Thank you so much @John_Hall . I like to follow along with the lyrics in front of me, because I don’t always hear things clearly.

I like the vintage tuners. The back is unique. Not really a satin or gloss finish, or the photo just doesn’t catch the true sheen. ‘What type of wood is the back made if? Is it smooth or grainy feeling?
