Think I finally have this section in time. Med tempo, but in time. Hopefully this one will be finally complete. I love this tune, and the months of working on has only strengthened my love for it.
Michael,
Nice work!!! I am glad to hear that your commitment to this song has made you not only learn it but love it even more 🙂 Keep up the awesome work!!!
Cheers,
Tony
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Ryan,
Keep at it, I know this is a doozy!!!
Cheers,
Tony
Ha,ha,ha.. I’m getting there Tony. Getting to this section was like hitting a wall. lol.. I love it.
I thought I was doing great until I met this beast, this section is fire.
Ryan,
This is a fire beast for sure… Bust out the fire extinguisher and let this section have it 🙂
Cheers,
Tony
The first time I heard John Fahey play this back in the 60’s I was blown away. The song has been rambling around in my head since then, mystified by how he played it. Fast forward 50 years, and thanks to Tony, I am now actually learning how to play it. I have been finger picking for years and this is quite a CHALLENGE! I am progressing slowly, section by section, but it’s starting to come around for me. Thanks Tony.
Reggie,
This is awesome to hear!!! I just went out and got all of John Fahey’s earlier albums on vinyl… I am reinvigorated and now even more of a Fahey fanatic… Also, there is a documentary out on him now, that is very we done 🙂 I am so glad you are playing this song now and it has been demystified!!! Thank you so much for your comment!!!
Cheers,
Tony
I agree the tab doesn’t match what is played in measure 12 & 13…it just doesn’t sound the same and I can’t slow it down enough to pick up the change…it still sounds ok though, just not exactly like you are playing it. I’d love it if you could correct the tab though, thanks
The tab doesn’t match the video: Measure 13 – Note 2, the Tab shows G-string 2nd fret and in the video you play D-string 2nd fret.
Can you please acknowledge this?
I notice in measure 13, you have a bend on the G (3rd fret, 6th sting), but in the video you bend the F# (2nd fret). Just an observation.
Ken A you are correct. Thanks!
I love the absence of the bass note on the 4 count in this sections first measure.
Jeff,
I love it how in certain songs when you expect to hear something and then it doesn’t happen it becomes this really cool, almost exclamation point for the song. Glad you like it!!!
Cheers,
Tony
