My 3rd G Grandfather Brian was a boy in N.W. Ireland when the events this version of this traditional song occured. The song references events of the failed landing in 1796 by the French to assist The United Irishmen in rebelling against British rule.

It means “Poor Old Woman,” and is older about the life in the West.

Nice performance @AttyTJ . Sounded like very tricky wording to say. I would have tripped all through the lyrics.
