Backing tracks
Posted by GLAC on May 18, 2021 at 10:10 amI am somewhat confused about the backing tracks. How are backing tracks supposed to be used in our learning process? What do I do with them?

Best thing I can say about backing tracks, is they are the best way to learn to Solo or improvise. This will let you learn scales of that key and take those scales and turn them into a beautiful melody. So basically you have a backing track to play the key Rhythm and you learn to play over it with your Solo. I hope this helps. @GLAC

Thank you for your reply. I kinda thought this is the case but, wasn’t sure. I will play around with it…I hope to gain more confidence in my abilities by ‘jamming’ with the track! Ha ha.

Agree with everything Dan outlined. Basically, you use the Wednesday scale to develop your own melody over the backing track. You can play it while just noodling around with the Wednesday scale and come up with something that sounds good to you. If you want to share it with the community, you can.

Thank you. I now understand better. Don’t know if I’m brave enough to chance it yet but, at least I better understand how to use it.

Once I’m a rock star, am I required to tear up hotel rooms and fight off groupies?
