Redo with a question. Based on the Chris Stapleton version, the cell phone, as usual, picked up the guitar much better than the vocals. I see some of you posting a recording that appears to be without a separate microphone for the vocals, and your vocals stand out and are clear. I am not talking about the quality of the vocals, as I am not a good singer, but the volume. How do you position it to pick up the vocals better if the same microphone is picking up both guitar and vocals? Is there something else you can do?

Very nice performance @Philb ! I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong with your recording. If you’re plugged in try unplugging and playing. This song had heavy strumming and that alone can overpower lyrics. Thought it was a fun son to play.

That was great strumming Philb! I’m new to all this recording business, so I can’t help out with the technical issues. I haven’t done my first recording yet. I hope you get the problem solved soon.

@Loraine Thanks much! I wasn’t plugged in, but as you say, I did use heavy strumming. I just enjoy it when I hear performances where people’s vocals are clear. Maybe that’s a clue about mine. 😂

@stevieblues Thank you for the kind words! I hope you will record something for us when you feel like exploring that.

@Bill_Brown Thank you! It was fun to try to take a rocker and play it on an acoustic guitar and still keep some of the essence of the song.
