First time changing strings
Posted by Greebosolo on November 8, 2021 at 10:40 amSmall win for me – changed a set of strings for the first time – new strings sound great!
Put on a set of Ernie Ball Earthwood Medium light strings on my Tanglewood TWCR0.
It’s not an expensive guitar but the tone has improved massively.

Congratulations on changing strings Greebosolo! I have trouble changing strings, I used to take the guitar into the music store and have them changed.

I did as well but they were charging £30 and the guitar only cost me £100! So figured what could go wrong! So glad I did it.

Always an exciting wi when we tackle the first string change. Great job! I use Ernie Ball on my Orangewood and love the earthy sound of them.

Yeah, I, too, wanted to congratulate you @Greebosolo on changing your strings for the first time. I have now changed strings more times than I could possibly count over a number of years, but I still remember the early days of changing my own strings in stead of taking it to the guitar shop. It took a surprisingly long time before I was really comfortable. Good for you for starting the process. Each time, from now on, will seem easier and you will approach each string change with the assurance that you can do it because you have done it. 😎

Thanks Mike
It’s surprisingly easy when you take your time to get it right so I will definitely be doing this. I have two other guitars and two ukulele’s to work on now. I am a bit uncertain about what set to try on my Squier Affinity Strat though. Any ideas?

Congratulations @Greebosolo that can be quite intimidating! Glad you took the plunge and got your first string change conquered!! You will save alot of money doing it yourself, and you can take the opportunity to give your guitar a nice deep cleaning day at the spa while the strings are off. Big High Five to you (or should it be High Six)
Way to go!!

That’s a big win for you @Greebosolo! I changed the strings on my guitar a few weeks ago (it had been a while). When I saw my buddy a few days later I told him and got suckered into doing his as well. 😯
