Why I can never be a part of GuitarArs****
Hi Folks,
I am new to the TAC family but I have been watching the Tuesday Acoustic videos for about a year. I finally decided to join last week and have been enjoying it quite a lot. I think it will be good for me and my journey. I have been playing on and off, mostly on, for 45 years but have never really tried to progress further than being a decent rythym guitar player. I’m hoping this will help but, if it doesn’t, I would not be unhappy being a better rythym player because I just love picking up one of my guitars and playing. Just for the sheer love of it. This past year I pulled the trigger on my dream guitar, a Martin D-28 Modern Deluxe. It’s gorgeous and oh that sound. It makes me happy just being in my life and playing it is absolute joy. I’d love to show it and my dozen other guitars off on TAC but, well, I just can’t.
Why? Well, that question is as old as the first group of humans banded together to fight off the cold and the dangers of the night. When they formed the first tribe. Tribalism is an inherent part of humanity and I am a practioner. I can ignore politics, religion, nationality, identity and a myriad of other differences of my fellow man. But, and this is where the problem comes, I am a devout Premium League football (soccer to most of my fellow Americans) supporter and my team, my one and only team, is Tottenham Hotspur. As a Spurs supporter I hate everything Arsenal. I won’t even own a red car. Therefore, as much as I would like to participate, I will never, ever have that word on my chest. I know it’s just a word that means a thing but it’s THAT word and I just cannot do it.
So, as much as I would like to join in on an activity every guitar player loves and show off my collection I just can’t. This is, in many ways, a very tongue and cheek post and I hope it’s taken that way. I’m serious about the Arsenal on my chest thing though.

Welcome Aboard @Kafka ! Would love to see your guitar collection, especially the Martin. Perhaps refer to them as your “guitar armory”? Let us hear that Martin on the Play for Us forum sometime.

Welcome to TAC @Kafka , I am all about “words have meaning”. You can be the guy with the guitar collection (for good reason) and we will go about with our Guitarsenals. I will break the word down maybe it will be helpful maybe not.
Guitars- (meaning stringed instruments) Enals- greek word for meaning things that are collected. Soooo, there ya gwoh. This word should not be confused with arsenal as that word breaks down like this: Ars, meaning Butt and Enals, same as above so Arsenal is a collection of Butts.🤣

Welcome to the fun @Kafka but remember, the word is actually “Guitarsenal” and merely includes the same letters as your hated team. 😜

I have heard Tony say that you can wear any TAC t-shirt or have any TAC merchandise in the photo with you and your guitars to get recognized on the AT Show. So you don’t have to buy/wear that Guit******* shirt!

Welcome aboard @Kafka ! I do believe this has been settled. Since Arsenal isn’t a part of a true guitarsenal, then you should have no qualms about showing off to us. Would love to hear your D-28. That is so refreshing hearing an American get so passionate about Spurs vs Arsenal! The original team was made up of workers from The Woolwich Arsenal where munitions were made for the British Army from the 1700s. So I guess Americans probably have even more reason not to support them after the slightly peevish exchanges between George’s redcoats and “the colonies” back then.
