  A good Acoustic – Electric guitar with rich sound

  Looking for a good acoustic electric guitar. Currently have acoustic that I mic up for my worship team. I would like something that sounds good through sound system and my budget is flexible. Any recommendations? Willing to spend, but don’t want to get too crazy.

  Brandon, I have a very reasonably priced Orangewood Morgan electric that sounds fantastic and very easy to play.

  Smoothtalker OM. South African luthier. May be on the edge of getting too crazy. If I were going to plug in I would consider this one top of the list for general purpose playing.

  Hi @docbrandonb , My experience with “plug-in” acoustics has been limited to Taylor & Martin guitars. I prefer the sound of Martin over Taylor, unplugged. But plugged-in, I think the Taylor’s sound nicer – maybe because Taylor makes their own electronics designed for their guitars, and Martin uses another vendor’s product (Fishman) that isn’t designed specifically for the Martin sound. Just my 2 cents.

      I find my Taylor 414ce-R fantastic plugged in or out. Wishing you many hours of beautiful music praising our Lord 😇.

    I found a Used Taylor 214CE and then I purchased a Pre Amp LR BAGGS Venue to tighten up the sound even more. I think it sounds great! After playing the Taylor I would say it is quite different than my Takamine acoustic in terms of sound and i don’t have to play as hard on it to get the same sound. I would assume as you go up in Taylor models it continues to get even more such as the 314 and AD27. It just so happened I found a used 214 and it was in my budget so went a step up than I was thinking but totally worth it.

  @brandon b, you can’t go wrong with the 214. It is a workhorse. I was looking at the 214 and the 314. Ended up with the AD17. I also have a Big Baby Taylor. Love the Taylor guitar feel. Now I want a GS Mini. I think I have a disease. 🙂
