Zager Guitars & strings
Posted by Al.E on May 29, 2022 at 6:12 amHas anyone tried Zager strings? or Have a Zager Guitar? Please share your thoughts.
What strings are we using. I have Martin custom lite retro on my Ibanez and Ernie Ball on my new Orangewood Oliver, I’m still getting use to it and think it need a setup by someone who know what they are doing. Right now I like the Ibanez for many reasons mostly it’s my first Guitar. I have had it or 40 years and only started playing in 2020. So what are playing folks?

Have not tried Zager strings. Had a Zager guitar for about 2 days before taking advantage of their guaranteed full refund including return shipping. It was a small guitar, all mahogany, just didn’t work for me. Stings I use? Different on different guitars. Favorite are Santa Cruz parabolic, but they are expensive. Also use Elixir on 12 string because they last longer. String Joy are also very good.

As far as strings go I’m using the new Martin with the the flex core on “moose” my epiphone inspired by Gibson hummingbird. I am in full support of getting your guitar setup by a pro

Zagers are just relatively inexpensive Asian made imports with a decent setup. I think you’ll best be served by simply taking the Orangewood in to a pro and have it setup the way you want it to be.

I purchased a Zager a few years ago. Couldn’t get it to sound right. I ever put a pair of Santa Cruz strings on it. Nope… I even ordered a set of Zager strings… Nope. Now it sits in its case waiting to be sold or traded. I talked to Zager about it and they were rued to me because I bought it used from someone else and not them. Will not be doing business with them. 😖🧙♂️😎

Thanks Folks. I can see in this small group that Zager is not worth a good discussion.
I see many playing on Santa Cruz parabolic. I have been wanting to give then a try, I have tried String Joy, a few different sets. They were nice and comfortable to play, but I like a warmer tone. I’m sure I’ll hunting for a different sound in the future. I guess it’s an never ending exploration. I like that many people name their Guitars. Pretty cool

Good evening AI.E, I recently bought a used Zager guitar a ZAD80CE, in unbelievable flawless condition black with the Fishman Aura Pro on board electronics. I did quite a bit of research read testimonials and sound comparisons against a 50 year old Martin D28, you could not hear the difference. What made want to try one is their hipe of being “Easy Play” I’m also am running Santa Cruz low tension strings on it and I have to say I am very pleased with it, the action is low, no buzzing, all I did to it was change the strings. I tend to grab it over my Martin, but time will tell how it ages. They also have a 100% money back guarantee, if you don’t like it they will refund 100% of your money as well as pay for shipping both ways. Here’s a picture of it. Good luck.
