1st TACiversary
Well here we are. That year went fast. So many small wins. I’ve logged 358 sessions but I only missed one day of playing guitar in the last year due to illness. I completed the entire curriculum of Daily Challenges, Skills Courses and Fretboard Wizard. I’ve added a Martin HD-28, Taylor GS Mini-e Quilted Sapele LTD, an Eastman MD515 mandolin and a Fender Acoustic Jr. amp to my guitarsenal. I’ve learned so much and found wonderful inspiration by going back and watching the previous episodes of the Acoustic Tuesday Show (still have a bout 25 to go). Last year I focused on just showing up every day, establishing good playing fundamentals and unlearning bad habits from a 30 year case of dabblerosis and most of all, having fun. My acoustic interests are broad, I love it all, although I’m not much interested in developing a heavy percussive style. This year, my focus will be just that, focused practice sessions, even if the topics vary widely. Specifically, I will push myself to develop my improvisational skills and confidence and expanding the list of songs that I can play. I think a big key to that will be coming out of my shell and playing with other people. I’ve definitely been a bit of a guitar hermit. I want to learn how link scales better and begin learning more about doing guitar set-up and maintenance work myself. I’m just happy to have found a system that keeps me coming back. Congratulations on all of your progress over the last year @Pinski . I was reminded reading your goals of how important focus is to my own progress. Those focused practice sessions are integral to my physical/mental(kinesthetic awareness) development as a player. The more focused I can be the faster I seem to learn. Thanks for putting that back into the forefront of my gray matter! I wish you fast progress in the coming year.

“Well played” on your post! Along the lines of what Jeff said- FOCUS is the key for me also.
On an Acoustic Tuesday awhile back, Tony talked about “The Five Best Guitar-playing Mantras”.
Well- as part of my own routine, I write down- (the day before)- what I want to practice each- (next)- day, and always include the word in capital letters- “FOCUS”. Every day. And I read those 5 mantras also. Every day.
Seems like a lot- but it only takes about 15 seconds…….. and it kind-of “sets my brain straight”.
Again- inspiring story, congrats, and thanks for sharing.
Fellow dabblerosis survivor. (But I do suffer an occasional setback😉 just for fun)

As I approach my first anniversary, I found your reflections similar to mine but wow, your participation and everything that goes with it was outstanding and I know how great it must feel. Have a great second year and get that song collection growing – that and playing with others make it oh so worth it.
