Scones Virtual Open Mic – Original song – Sometimes
This is the first song I played in the Scones VOM today, an original song titled Sometimes. I think I played this the best I have yet, as there are some difficult chord transitions. But it’s coming along.
I wrote this song about an uncomfortable emotional space I sometimes find myself in. My central purpose for my guitar journey is to write songs that help me process my emotions. I think this song is one of the best I’ve written for that reason.

Thank you so much @Philb . Yeah, this song is introspective for sure. Part of the reason I like it so much. It really digs down deep for me. Also, the finger picking progression is something I came up with over 2 years ago and I absolutely love the sound. I am so happy to be able to play it this well.

@MikeGaurnier there were a few things that struck me when I watched you perform this song: 1. It may be the most vulnerable song you’ve performed to date. This helps me relate to the song on the deep level that you do. 2. You seem totally at peace with this song – it was flowing out of you vs pushed. 3. The chord changes are beautiful. I read your comments after I listened and smiled. Thank you for sharing your songs Mike. 😃

Thank you @Kitman . Yeah, I think you’re right about being vulnerable. This is definitely an autobiographical song. I really appreciate hearing that I seem at peace with it. Thanks. I came up with the chord progression a couple of year ago when I wrote a handful of songs in the spring of 2020, but it never made it to finished song. But I always loved the sound and I think it captures that feeling I try to express with the lyrics. It’s sorta defeated but at peace at the same time.
