Very impressive! Especially for a first effort at recording it. I fear I’m going to need many more than one take before I get brave enough to post something. I’m no authority, but that doesn’t seem like an easy tune to play -way to go, Old Coach!

      Thanks, Gerry!

It was my first recording of that, but it wasn’t “the first take”😉. I had to tank about a half-dozen before that one showed up…….

Gerry- Actually it’s a VERY easy tune to learn and play!

It’s only got 4 chords– A5, E5, B7, and G, and they pretty-much just repeat. All the rest of it, I just threw in there!

Find the TAB on E-chords and go for it!

Thanks, PhilB! Means a lot to get this feedback.

I know it wasn’t great– but it sure was fun!

Anybody else just kind-of “clam-up” when the camera is on?

I can play that song MUCH more “enthusiastically” when just goofing around- no pressure.

But when the camera is on- I just stiffen up…… not just this song- but all of them it seems. Any suggestions from you all who have done this MUCH more than I?

But- seems like the more times I play a song the easier it gets.

Sorry about the crappy sound recording-🤨- still working on a better setup. (Right now I’m just playing into my laptop microphone).

Thank you all for the nice words and encouragement.

Yes!!!! Every time I go to record anything @the-old-coach ! I finally figured I would just let the camera roll and do what I need to do (restart, redo, etc) and then trim the clip to something that seems decent enough to submit (not splicing separate performances together, just picking the one that seems the most OK to me).

The other thing I found that works… warning this may sound weird… is to start the camera and jus sit there with my eyes closed a couple seconds and do a couple deep breaths… and then look up into the camera and smile at myself. I know – weird – but I figured if I can’t be friendly to myself then what the heck!

Another idea: do a take that feels as over the top as you can possibly make it (eg. grooving with the song, best guitar face ever, really projecting, etc) and the watch it back. Better yet have someone else watch it back. You may find out that what feels over the top to you is just about right to be enjoyable for your audience.

Finally – let go and have fun! See what that looks like on film. See if that doesn’t make you smile! That’s why we are all here, right?

      🤘🎸🎶😎

      Thanks, Bill!

I had a lot of fun doing it. It still needs work- (and I can actually sing that song😳)- but I’m not “Ready for Primetime” yet!

I wish I could really let ‘er rip WITH THE CAMERA ON. This is a fairly mild version of the way I normally play it– I just wanted to GET THRU it!

Playing a song “full-length” is tough for me……… The longer it is the more chance I have of screwing it up!😜
