Holy mackerel and gosh o geekers! Yesterday i went to my local guitar place and had my new low tension Santa Cruz strings put on as well as checking the neck on Marty, my Martin sunburst hd 28. There were a couple of folks there so it was a little noisy. But everyone including the tech said it was beautiful sounding. I let the strings rest overnight and played them during my tac today. Wow!. They are fantastic.Easy to play like my Martin silk and phosphors. They ring like the bells of Saint Mary. The evenness of tone and the pliability as well as playability is just out of this world. I already love them. They run about $18 a set if you join the santa cruz string club which i did. A new set will be sent every three months. Since in the past I change strings monthly this will work out to a monthly cost of 6 buck and Ill get a new set every three months instead of monthly. Im in! Thank you Tony for your advice! Ive run out of superlatives for these strings!

Glad you like the SC Strings – I find that they usually take a week or so to settle in and that is when you really notice the change in sound. They also seem to last longer. A bit pricey though.

@mrfredsporty – continuing this discussion, I recently picked up a 211 Martin D-16 as a backup (ok to leave the house with, bring out to the front porch, etc.) guitar and slapped on a set of Low Tension Santa Cruz Stings about a week or so ago and I have to be honest, I am just not feeling the love. They seem kind of dull on this guitar. So, while they sound great on my Guild, they don’t seem to come alive on the D-16.

I also have an HD 28 and tried the Santa Cruz strings on Tony’s recommendation, although I went with the mid tension rather than the low tension. I agree that the Santa Cruz strings are stellar on that guitar. Thanks for pointing out that “subscription” option for Santa Cruz strings; I may have to check that out.

@Mrfredsporty , I am glad you are happy with the new strings. I do not change the strings on my guitars. Only the smallest of them has had new strings and that was because of some bridge work that had to be done. I was noticing the other day that my GS mini is sounding a little dead and I have thought about getting new strings. But, so far i’m still in the thinking stage. I have to listen to Tony’s AC and hear his speech on strings. Thats for the post

Hi @Mrfredsporty , I looked for the club option and the best price was 24.00 p/set. Do you have a secret connect? and be willing to share with me. Promise, I will keep it secret too.😃

Funny thing. i could not get the club to come back up. Im not being a wize guy (for a limited time only). I think that I would go to the. santa cruz site and use their contact method and give them a call.I know I did get the $18 price but I cant find it on their site now.

I’ve been using Santa Cruz stings, both mid and low tension, on all of my guitars. I always keep 4 sets of each on hand. I’ve tried others strings over the years but always come back to Santa Cruz.

Have been using them for close to 5 years now. 😊🍸😎
